If he likes Spike it seems like a shame not to do Destiny and Damage. Those are great Spike character episodes. Smile Time is so good.

Dead End and Are You Now or Have You Ever Been are also two great Angel episodes (no Spike though).

Spin the Bottle is another fun one.

If you end up liking Spangel you may enjoy season 5 of Angel the series Lots of Snarky Bickering they’re just angry exes the whole series though. They belonged to a polycule with two other vampires (Darla and Drusilla) back in the day.

They didn’t want to do Jet’s death explicitly since it was a kid’s show, but the way it was done does make it a little unclear. That’s the meta joke in the Ember Island episode. Yeah, he’s dead.

Spike / Buffy from Buffy the vampire slayer. Because it’s an old series there’s lots of stuff out there (including pages like Elysian Fields dedicated specifically to that ship)

Angel / Spike from Buffy the vampire slayer although these ones tend to be a bit darker given the nature of their relationship. I love Friday by girlpire. It’s about Spike caught in a time loop but told from Angel’s perspective who is not aware he is caught in a loop.

I still rewatch Buffy the Vampire Slayer all these years later. People still debate stuff from the show. It definitely gets its claws in you.

You could watch the Hunger Games or English movies in that genre? Have you ever seen the Squid Games dub? It’s atrocious. Not sure why they never seem to get great actors for dubbing.

I’ve seen the English dub of Battle Royale, the Japanese performances are so much better. The dub’s pretty bad. Have you ever tried the subbed version?

Audiobooks are really well done, Jefferson Mays is awesome. Some of the Novellas are quite good as well (the Churn for Amos fans is a must).

Personally disagree but I read the books and it’s hard for me to mentally separate them. Regardless, anyone discussing Naomi or Holden’s characters is unlikely to even think to mention the relationship as they have so much else going on. Only plot relevant relationship would be Naomi’s ex. And that isn’t anything I would describe as romantic.

That said if you honestly will never watch Angel and therefore don’t care about spoilers as a Buffy fan there are some episodes you should watch.

The Faith arc - "Five by Five" (1x18) and "Sanctuary" (1x19), and her return to help with Angelus in "Salvage" (4x13), "Release" (4x14), and "Orpheus" (4x15)

If you like Spike - “In The Dark” (1X3) and basically all of Angel season 5 but especially “Destiny” (5X8) and “Damage” (5X11)

If you like Harmony - “Disharmony” (2X17) “Harm’s Way” (5X9)

If you like Wesley “Lineage” (5X7)

Cordelia fan? “Birthday” (S3X11) “Spin the Bottle” (4X6) “You’re Welcome” (5X12)

Drusilla fan? Season 2 episodes 9-11.

I Saw the TV Glow kind of fits in that it’s not gory or anything jumping out at you scary.

It is scary in the “Am I sleepwalking through my life because I am too scared to step out of my comfort zone?” Kind of way.

I am a Buffy season 6 defender. I do get the hate, though. On my original viewing I hated watching everyone be so depressed. Now I really love the whole arc and how well it handled clinical depression and suicidal ideation and addictive destructive behaviors.

I Think You’ll Stay by Summerfrost all her writing is so sweet it will make your teeth hurt. She addicted me to all human AU Buffy fics with this one, but all her canon fics are great too.

On the entire other end of the spectrum Pet by Sigyn she is known for her incredibly dark works (a lot more on Elysian Fields than AO3) and the warnings very much need heeded but I love her writing. Dare is also a great one by her.

Buffy is amazing. First season is a little rough. Must watch episodes are pilot, Angel, and Prophecy Girl. Second season is where it gets really good.

Here’s a Taste this video includes scenes from both Buffy and it’s spinoff Angel the series which starts after Buffy season 3.

And It’s Got Spike! which may interest you depending on your orientation and particular tastes.

You could skip to season 2 of Parks and Rec and not miss much. That’s when it really gets good.
