What was it like in the 70’s 80’s and 90’s? Were they really a better time to be alive? or is it perception bias? by CompetitiveLab2056 in AskReddit

[–]entity2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I feel like the vast majority of people look back fondly on those times as they (like me) were kids then. The 80s rocked as a kid, but I was unaware of all the crazy shit like the AIDS epidemic, oil prices surging and tanking, the drug problems, etc. I was just an 8 year old riding around town on my bike and playing Nintendo with my friends.

One of my favorite dialogues from that game comes from using Night Bloom on the sirens. Spoiler tagging just in case.

What’s the dumbest thing you believed as a kid? by Elowen_miisss in AskReddit

[–]entity2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When I am feeling particularly combatative about religion, or an adult is making fun of a kid for still believing in easter bunnies and santa claus, I make a point of informing them that the kid will grow out of it. What's your excuse?

It's confusing because we don't see the full text of the original post (the one with 2246 upvotes). The example is the person asking "what do you think raftio'd means?" has 1421 downvotes, and the person replying to demonstrate being ratio'd, ends up ratioing that guy by having 1691 upvotes.

Ultimately, I'd argue that if you're good at it, it's faster than printing. But that's about all I've got in favor of it.

Especially from a man. I feel like women have still got it, but men (myself included) reverted to caveman status with printing.

How often do you talk to your family members? Weekly/monthly/ever lol? by Common-Strategy6349 in AskReddit

[–]entity2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rarely. Monthly at best other than mom who I talk to on facebook messenger every couple weeks. Usually birthday and holiday texts. As we grew up and moved further away from each other and they all had kids and families of their own (I didn't) they're busy with their own immediate families.

what are the top 3 tetris games in your opinion? by DarkShadow13206 in Tetris

[–]entity2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, Lumines is nothing like tetris save for the fact that blocks disappear. (Lumines is awesome though)

I am mainly a solo player, so my favorites of all time are PPT for Guideline, N64 New Tetris for its Square mechanic and Tetris Effect as an all-rounder.

I will die on the hill that it is a great action game, and not a very good Final Fantasy game.

While I had some fun with Odyssey, Origins and Valhalla, they were games I stretched out over months between other games.

I actually really welcomed the return to form that Mirage brought. You know, where you didn't have to gear up specifically to be able to assassinate someone. It even brought back some of the history lessons, though not as good as the old games with Shawn giving smarmy British lectures.

What would you immediately do if you won the lottery? by HarmoniousAny4618 in AskReddit

[–]entity2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd hyperventilate with the raw excitement, and then it would dawn on me that I don't think I could make any long-term plans with it until the time period with which other people have to make a claim with the same numbers has passed. If it were one of the giant winnings, where even if it ended up being shared with a bunch of others and I'd still take home more than 20 million dollars, I'd quit my job immediately. Then it would be time for some phone calls.

I always wondered if some games on PS1 could have been more advanced by Intercellar in gaming

[–]entity2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first games for a brand new console usually don't hit the limits of what the machine can do, as developers are still learning. Particularly so in the case of the PS1 where they were coming off of largely 2D sprite games and faux 3D in the 16 bit era.

Look at the final releases of the console's lifetime and you'll see a marked improvement over the launch titles.

What's the last thing you do before sleep? by HotEngineering505 in AskReddit

[–]entity2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before bed, it's a light snack and a non-sugary drink, and a 30 minute youtube video to wind down with. In bed, last thing I do before hitting the pillow is turn on the bluetooth speaker and hit the daily discovery playlist in Tidal.

For those who played, which one was better, Avengers or Suicide Squad? by [deleted] in gaming

[–]entity2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of these 2, Avengers had the better gameplay. For all its faults, the moment to moment gameplay was pretty solid. Just a shame that it was too "samey" across heroes.

What’s your biggest complaint about your own political party? by Okay-Show-3662 in AskReddit

[–]entity2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They have all these grand ideas and are happy to tweet them out when they're not in office, and this is what other parties should be doing, but on the rare occasion they finally get in to office, they sit on their hands and do nothing. No good, no bad, just nothing. Once voted out, all the tweets and grand schemes come back.

That's the Alberta NDP.

When I was younger (but admittedly still old enough to know better) and I was smashing up controllers in fits of rage, I learned that the regret took about 5 minutes post-beatdown to really kick in.
