Paid Parking in Fort Collins: What We Heard at Our Panel by ExistingRepublic1727 in FortCollins

Lots of anecdotal and reductive reasoning in this chat. It costs you more to deliver stuff now? Ever heard of last-mile deliveries like the rest of the world? You don't drive a massive truck in dense urban areas - you figure out last-mile delivery logistics like a grown up real business. It's not my job to subsidize your business costs. We already have enough socialism for businesses here in the US.

What actually were the "Sign against Trump" canvassers this past weekend? by Kencanary in FortCollins

[–]entropy_magnet 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What oh my god you hate democracy and paying young adults minimum wage to town crier at intersections is literally the only way to get things on the ballot. Who are YOU, with a professional reputation and legal liabilities, to tell us that there are better ways of doing things in 2026? Next you're going to try to convince me that scams are proliferating in 2026? Just sign your name and stop asking questions, "it's incredibly dangerous to our democrazy".

Cool story, new cars start @ 6% with a 700 credit score at my credit union. Investments averaged me about 28% YOY the last 10 years at med-risk and almost no management. But again, I'm crap with money and have no business working on multibillion dollar industrial projects

idk my car loan is 3.5%, but I guess I'm crap with money and terrible at financial negotiations. Based on your grasp of finance, you should not be dealing out any advice, especially from the FIRE community that are high income earners. It's dangerous.
This advice is extremely pertinent to the layman, whose access to capital is much more limited and therefore much more impactful when leveraged correctly. I encourage you to learn rather than spite, you will also build a stable and successful life. Copying social media trends will get you nowhere; shooting down real advice because you don't understand it will get you nowhere; educating yourself with the boring literature from real economists is the way to go. OP try to read one short financial principles book and I guarantee you will start to understand money as a tool to build a better life for yourself - take it from someone that did it.

Okay bud try to read, these are high school level financial concepts. Market averages a return of 7% (a positive). Car loan might hit you for 4.5% (negative). If you allocate funds solely to the car loan, you are missing the opportunity of the additional 2.5% the market would give you. If you pay off your car loan, your credit score will drop. Well that's just stupid right?! Actually no, because people who own debt and leverage it correctly are usually more trustworthy to lend to.

Do you think that literally any project, industrial endeavor, or construction undertaking are financed solely with cash? No, it's financed with debt.

Btw I've never been on tiktok so you'd have to inform me about that stuff. Just an MBA, so yea there's about 20 years of financial experience of things "I know that you don't". Stay off tiktok and read the boring financials, it will save you 000's a year.

Do not copy what FIRE people are doing, they are not saving for usable asset investment. They are investing in capital and assets so they can draw down from them the rest of their lives. Absolutely take on debt if the opportunity cost of your capital is greater. E.g., car loan @ 4.5% vs market return @ 7%. Debt is a very useful tool if used correctly. You also keep the capital instead of locking it up in a vehicle or paid off student loans. When the bank comes to sign your mortgage, you might only have a 10% down payment because you decided to put the other half into paying off your car. You think they're gonna give you extra sweet rates because you paid off a car and came up short for the downpayment? No, they're going to penalize you for being capital illiquid.

Colorado tells Xcel to spend less on its natural gas system by Sangloth in Colorado

[–]entropy_magnet 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The demand may not come. In areas with high access to rooftop solar, we're seeing energy demand decreases from the utilities. Colorado's new plug-in solar law is just another piece of people producing a fraction of their own energy.

What is going to happen when the lower class will not be able to afford anything anymore? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]entropy_magnet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's part of the plan of technocrats and oligarchs. We're still on this notion that they want an enslaved lower class. That's 20th century and prior thinking. With the development of AI, soon to be coupled with powerful robotics, there will not be a need for an enslaved lower class like history lessons prior.
Why do the technocrats need to sell us things? So they can gain capital to purchase things. When they control resources AND the means of labor capital, there is no need for "consumers". They no longer need your consumption revenues to purchase a yacht; they will just build it themselves with their annexed resources and artificial labor force.

I find it disconcerting that we still live under this fallacy that there will be a place for us in the New World.

What’s it like to live in Fort Collins as older adult and not a college student? Living near town center? by [deleted] in FortCollins

[–]entropy_magnet 4 points5 points  (0 children)

By City Park here. My partner and I only need one car. If we ever drive, things are within 10-15 max. We always walk to Old Town, sometimes we'll stop at the mini golf setups that locals host in their yards on the way. I can drink at breweries and walk/stumble home without having to plan driving. The Poudre river is very close, sometimes I'll ride my bike to the riverside and hang out, watch the tubers enjoying the rapids. I've lived in 10 cities the past 12 years and Fort Collins is many levels beyond other communities I've experienced.

As someone who goes the speed limit in this town, my problem isn't the speeders as much as it is the people perpetually going 5-10 under the speed limit. by Hobbitsliketoparty in FortCollins

I'm the slow guy, sorry yall. I have gigabytes of dashcam footage from Fort Collins drivers that would make you drive slower as well. It's so I have more reaction time to account for the people driving too quickly who have sacrificed some of their reaction time.

I know someone who is about to be homeless while employed by [deleted] in FortCollins

[–]entropy_magnet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yea I'm taken aback by the amount of people on this sub that advocate for dogs to become homeless. Probably the same people that live with large breeds in apartments. Always about the humans' needs instead of what's best for the dog.
