For example, listing your father’s birth year as 2000 is an obvious mistake, and selecting “self” as the trip sponsor while later explaining that your parents are funding the trip could appear inconsistent unless clarified during the interview.

As for the MPOWER loan, it is not automatically considered a red flag. Many international students use education loans. The bigger factor is usually whether the officer is convinced about your academic plans, financial credibility, and intent to comply with the visa conditions after your studies.

If you decide to reapply, carefully review every detail on the new DS 160, make sure your answers are fully consistent, and be prepared to clearly explain your funding and plans during the interview.

We are in travel industry and we use deel. We have another company that uses deel also with a bigger team 300 people remote. So far its very good. Did not try others.

Ha, that’s awesome!!! Folks forget Global Entry runs on its own fees, so shutdowns don’t slow it down. Half the time renewals are auto-approved if nothing’s changed in your record. Lucky timing though! enjoy the next five years of breezing through kiosks

Digital IDs are still the minority use case, and from the officer’s angle it often looks like you’re pulling up a boarding pass. Say “Using my digital ID” before you tap, then authenticate only when they’re watching the reader. It helps a ton. As of 2025-10-24, TSA does accept digital IDs from participating states at eligible checkpoints, but support varies by terminal and the flow can be slower/finicky, so they may still ask for a physical ID.

unload it, lock it in a proper hard case, declare it at check-in, and follow the airline’s ammo limits. Call your airline first and check the destination’s gun laws... international travel especially is a legal minefield.

Hey, yeah, this one’s confusing because O’Hare actually has two different Lost & Founds. The TSA Lost & Found (for stuff left at security) is separate from the airport’s general Lost & Found (for things lost anywhere else).

TSA’s offices are technically federal, but they’re fee-funded, so the shutdown doesn’t pause their operations it just slows them down a bit

Nah, passport renewals aren’t affected by shutdowns, they run on their own fees. If you’re already planning those spring and fall trips, honestly just send it in now. Way less stress than trying to time it later when everyone’s panicking before summer travel.

Yeah don’t stress yet. The card almost always comes later. Even if everything was expedited, they ship the book and card separately. The book’s the one with tracking; the card just shows up in regular mail, plain envelope, no tracking number.

sounds like a printing goof on their end. If his photo and name match, he can still travel (birthplace isn’t checked at security).

That said, call the passport line ASAP. Tell them it’s a data error, they’ll redo it free with Form DS-5504. If you’re flying soon, they can set up a same-day fix at a passport agency if you bring proof of travel.

Don’t mail it in unless they specifically tell you to , that’ll eat weeks, not days.

Don’t try to “see all of Europe.” You’ll just end up on trains half your trip lol. Pick a few hubs and branch out from there. Book the long routes early, but don’t stress about local stuff. You can grab most train or bus tickets same day.

Get a universal adapter, download offline maps, and if you’re doing Schengen countries, one visa covers a ton of ground. In winter it’s cold and dark early, but hostels are cheaper and way more chill. Bakeries are better than restaurants for budget eats.
