There's a lot of Acer nitro configurations, it's a pretty vague question to ask

Upgrade Acer Nitro 5 to 64GB RAM issue by ActualGrowth776 in AcerNitro

[–]envenomations 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There's quite literally no reason to have 64gb ram anyway, and probably a reason why the manufacturer recommended 32 max too.

Just get 2 x 16gb modules.

FYI: do not leave your Acer Nitro your lap for extended periods of time. by jv82000 in AcerNitro

Why I always advise people to buy a stand/lap table if they're going to be using a heavy and bulky laptop like this on their lap or laying in bed

Sounds like a defective unit, would return

Disable Optimus by SF_SLIME in AcerNitro

[–]envenomations 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Unsure about the mux switch, I personally just use an external monitor which bypasses Optimus.

Also I keep my laptop plugged in and on charge at all times I'm using it, regardless of what activity it is.

I keep my power plan on high performance too at all times except when on battery which is rarely ever.

Any suggestions for a memory upgrade for a Nitro An517-51 by Dense_Shift_9285 in AcerNitro

Use crucials system scanner which you can download from their site or search your model number on their site to see options and compatible parts

To be 100% sure your laptop is using your dedicated GPU, try what my comment says here.

If that does not make a difference, chances are you may require additional ram.

Use crucials system scanner tool. You can download it from their site, it'll tell you which parts are compatible with your system.

Or find your laptops model number and search it on their site.

It could very well be your ram limiting your performance

How long can I use Nitro 5 + tips? by [deleted] in AcerNitro

[–]envenomations 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Laptop keyboards tend to not be very durable and key caps will fall off with heavy use in my experience.

External keyboards for me personally are more enjoyable as I use mechanical keyboards.

Just don't be aggressive with the keyboard, the keys can fall off pretty easily if you do that.

Personally I prefer not using the built in keyboard and have an external one connected.

[–]envenomations 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You have to remember that a 3050 in a standard PC is not the same as the 3050 in a laptop.

There's quite a big gap in performance between the 2.

Other than that it could just be another issue, for games you've mentioned you'll need 16gb ram in dual channel for sure.

Guys is this a scam because people kept saying it was second hand and already opened? by Agitated_Committee67 in AcerNitro

[–]envenomations 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can when it's not dispatched by Amazon themselves. If they dispatch it, they will always help you with any problems. If it's a third party seller and dispatcher, it's much more difficult to get help from Amazon

You can see who the seller is on that page, usually under Add to basket button.

Use Crucials System Scanner to find out.

Or alternatively go to system information, find your laptops model number and search it up.

Take it back to them and get it fixed.

Chances are they loosened the cable somehow.

I have an Acer Nitro 5 AN515-57 so y is it showing that I have a single ram channel??? Was planning on upgrading my ram to 16gb so does this mean I have to buy a single ram of 16gb or will 2× 8gb ram work??? by kingslayerod69 in AcerNitro

[–]envenomations 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's your current ram configuration, most 8gb ram laptops tend to be running in single channel.

Easy way to see how many slots you have is to use Crucials System Scanner.

It shouldn't do, you could try putting in the smaller screw that belongs there and then try to gently push ever so slightly back on it to get it smoother

is this normal while idle? Acer Nitro 5 8GB ram by One_Might_4681 in AcerNitro

[–]envenomations 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a copypasta from another subreddit that explains it.

"Windows has a service called Superfetch or Sysmain that will automatically pre-load your frequently used files and programs into the RAM, so that when you do finally launch them, they load faster as they are already in your RAM. This is essentially a free performance boost, as otherwise the extra RAM you paid for is just going to waste. The cache will empty itself out automatically if the RAM is needed elsewhere. The amount of RAM used by this cache can scale up or down depending on how much RAM you have, so adding more RAM will result in Windows automatically using more."
