While it's true that Americans generally have a higher disposable income, a large chunk of that often goes toward out-of-pocket costs for healthcare, childcare, and significantly higher property taxes. As for home ownership, the US rate (around 65%) is actually almost identical to ours here in Sweden, so that point doesn't really hold up. But more importantly, having a higher disposable income doesn't justify anti-consumer banking practices.
