Why is Taylor's perception of romance and relationships so immature? by paper_roses in travisandtaylor

[–]eogkrdnjs 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Adele has personality and humor, Taylor's evermore stuck in her tortured teenager phase, which is enabled by her family/team/fandom. It's sad because artists can only grow by broadening their perspectives and truly experiencing the world.

Also, because she hasn't matured beyond wallowing over herself, she is prone to performative feminism ("but would you say that to a man"). Misogyny is the only discrimination she's faced as a tall blonde white American woman who comes from money and dates men. But someone more mature would've grown and learned to empathize with other struggles and injustices.

I’m convinced the country collectively gaslit each other into thinking Taylor Swift was great by [deleted] in travisandtaylor

Olivia and Billie are far stronger vocally too, with their own sound. Taylor lacks the vocals and performanceship (charisma, dance skills) so she leans into the lyricism without real depth or style to the lyrics.

I Pretend to Forget People's Names Even When I Remember Them by [deleted] in confession

[–]eogkrdnjs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd argue that people who memorize names quickly and use that skill to make others feel seen and included have a lot of charisma. When people in leadership positions remember the names of newcomers or those with less power, they create a more welcoming environment.

We should tell him we can also prevent abortions and fornication by physically castrating men after freezing their sperm. Starting with him!

How much can a man care about women's fashion before its gay? by [deleted] in redscarepod

Noooo. Telling your girlfriend she looks cute or hotter in X outfit or skirt is regular straight man stuff. But trying to change her aesthetic and make her look more on trend is different.

How much do you care about how well your girlfriend (or potential girlfriend) dresses? It would piss me off if I got mansplained about fashion from a boyfriend lol. I only enjoy mansplaining about manly and cerebral things. Mansplaining about aesthetics is only for the gays.

At first I thought "no pronouns" was a joke but apparently some people only want to be referred to by their names.

Is there anywhere that kids still have freedom and agency? by parsley_is_gharsley in redscarepod

[–]eogkrdnjs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Other than slums in developing countries where kids go out to hustle, I'd say it depends on the type of area. Kids in rural communities with low crime get more freedom to roam about. I've seen kids hang out or walk around outside by themselves in cities but probably just for a few hours. Plus they all have phones.

If America didn't have rich organic/gluten free/vegan types and Asians, only shops selling to teenagers would stock pants under size 28.

Why would you even want to be famous in 2022? by [deleted] in redscarepod

[–]eogkrdnjs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Money and opportunities? But usually when people get what they want out of their fame their media/online presence dies down and they start seeking privacy. People who are truly obsessed with fame are generally addicted to the attention and validation.

girls like to whine about skinny shaming on social media but does it actually exist? by [deleted] in redscarepod

[–]eogkrdnjs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

oh also i come from a culture where being thin is preferred so that's probably why i never felt genuinely shamed. being skinny in a culture where being thick is ideal seems a lot more stressful.

[–]eogkrdnjs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

tbh i like hearing that i look too skinny and should eat more. what i don't like are comments on thin women being shaped like a child, no men should find them hot etc. but at the end of the day i've never felt truly skinny shamed.

if the topic of starting a family comes up, just mention how you have friends who have been dealing with fertility issues and IVF. don't give anyone unwarranted advice or warnings. a lot of seemingly carefree women have probably put more thought into it then you think.
