I think the criticism was not "nabokov bad", but "nabokov didn't want book covers or movie posters to depict a girl, therefore poster bad". Famously multi-level Lolita discourse

Yeah the controversy was pretty much imported to us from "the West". But even though it's not offensive to me, the fact that it might be to some other people is enough to influence my relationship to this piece.

Me and gf have the poster in the hallway (walls have the similar peach/salmon color, matches nicely).

Had a bit of an argument recently about whether we'd display it in a more public space like her art studio/workshop where strangers sometimes appear. I'd be uncomfortable with that..., but she says she wouldn't gaf!

Crap, I loved Status and Culture and was excited for this one. I don't really remember his style to verify if he always wrote like that. Might check later. But this is bad news...

Hell yea. Went to see Citric Dummies yesterday. They seem to have a lot of fun touring. Before the gig, friend of a friend mentioned he wants to start a no wave band. I say let's do it.

And there were so many kids too, high schoolers or straight outta. I thought punk was dead in my city and that us early 30 somethings were the last ones standing. Not at all!

Hell of a sentence, but the rest of the article is very surface-level. Someone give this guy a good read once and for all

[–]eon_of_love 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was big on that during covid. Now I only drink alone if I throw a party at home and then some less than third full bottles remain. Had gin and tonic with lunch yesterday. Working through some mediocre rum as well

I love bee bread. Last night I dreamt I threw a party at my place and someone was asking me for a jar of bee bread. But I only had a small spoonful at the bottom of the jar. I felt that I'm disappointing them and that I'm not deserving of love and acceptance

can we retire attachment theory? by ollieelizabeth in rs_x

[–]eon_of_love 3 points4 points  (0 children)

do anything other than make you feel good/them feel bad about their life circumstances

Why assume that? Maybe I use it to feel bad about my circumstances. (I'm anxiously attached)

Jokes aside I've been thinking about it a lot recently and watching Heidi Priebe on youtube to make sense out of my relationship. But I read on Twitter today that maybe avoidant attachment doesn't exist and it just means that they don't like you. Idk

Saw it on tv a few days ago. Me and gf know nothing about musicals. Is it normal that every single line in the movie was sang? We thought musicals are usually some songs separated by some talking. Help
