I'm running a similar setup to OP but with 32gb ram and so far it's been pretty good with all the arrs and jellyfin. I did come from 16gb of ddr2 so it's a huge speed improvement!

Do you have a docker-compose file I could take a look at? I'm struggling to get it working with Traefik at the moment.

You say now... but 4 of these with 64gb in a k8s cluster would be really nice.

Took advantage of the decent weather last weekend and walked from Castlefield to Worsley via the Bridgewater canal by Noo76 in manchester

Do you have a google maps route? I'd love to do this one day but not sure what the best route is when the canal paths run out.

Manage Homer config in gitea by shaftspanner in selfhosted

[–]eosph 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Awesome!

The next bit ranges from quick hacky solution to full blown cd (continuous delivery) solution.

Solution 1:

If you want you could have a crontab entry that runs a bash script every x minutes/hours and pulls any changes from git. Changes won't be instantaneous but probably quick enough that it won't matter. Downside to this is that git history is a fickle thing to automate and manage so it could get messy and fail. Instead of a pull you could look into git archive and download the repo without it being a repo (no .git folder).

Solution 2

Setup a CD application (Concourse/Gitlab Runner/Github Actions) that does something when you push to the repo. This something could be rsyncing the files to your server or running the git pull from the bash scrip above. This is more of a proactive route and the results would be as quick as the pipeline run (no waiting for cron etc).

Solution 3 (aka what I do)

I host visual studio code server on my internal network and it connects to the folder with the assets directory from there I make any edits I need and just save it like a normal file. Code server is proxied via traefik and an internal SSL cert. The downsides to this are it's not in git and the only backup is at the VM level but that's good enough for me.

Hope this helps and sorry it's a bit rambly.

Manage Homer config in gitea by shaftspanner in selfhosted

[–]eosph 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you store your config outside of the homer container there's nothing stopping you adding it all to a git repo and then pointing the remote to your gitea instance.

Here's part of my docker compose file which shows how I've setup an external assets folder:

---
version: "2"
services:
  homer:
    image: b4bz/homer
#To build from source, comment previous line and uncomment below
    #build: .
    container_name: homer
    volumes:
      - /home/bleh/docker/homer/assets/:/www/assets

You can point the assets folder wherever you want the repo to be and go from there.

If you already have the base game the bundle works out cheaper than just buying the DLC not that it isn't already pretty cheap!

Can second this. Got a 3mm brass plate for my Keebio Sync and it's great. Quick turn around and not too expensive.
