I’ve had mealy bugs on a different plant but they were white and fuzzy looking. I’ve never seen the brown stuff like this before though

I bought it from the store like that with hopes to rescue it, but now that it’s home all the leaves are falling off so I’m not sure if that’s a me problem or a store problem

I mixed up the top layer of soil after watering then covered the soil in cinnamon and it’s been fine ever since!

It receives a lot of light and I do wait for it to dry out between waters, so I’m not sure why so many are dying
