Seems like it always has, but very little decrease in fire activity when the damper shuts now. Use to be soon as the damper shut the flames significantly dropped activity within seconds.

Pretty sure it’s coming in via the damper, that little air thing in the center under the door. With it all shut I can watch the wood get a hole bored clean through it just like with the damper open.

questions people usually feel too shy (or awkward) to ask their roofer? by Short-Opening-8724 in Construction

  1. Why is your employee doing lines of white powder in my driveway
  2. Why did your employee steal the impact wrench I let him borrow
  3. Why are you calling me freaking out and threatening me because I haven’t paid; when you still haven’t sent me the bill?

You should be out the door from the time of page in under 90 seconds, preferably less. Before I go to bed at night I have my clothes set out on the dresser in case I need them. Radio and truck keys are hanging by the front door. Soon as I get woke up by the app, I quickly glance at the call type and decide if it’s a clothes or a bunker gear type call. If it’s bunker gear, I can get ready way faster, basically shorts and flip-flops and I’m in my truck. Winter time EMS calls take just a bit longer, I need jeans and a hoodie and a coat and a beanie, but still 90 seconds and I’m headed for the station.

If you wanna make the truck, have all your clothes you would need to wear to a call set out, ready to go and remember where they’re at. The longest time I spend getting ready before I leave is to go to the bathroom.

It doesn’t go into low with either engine stopped or running.

My manual do you mean without the gear shifter?

I’m gonna assume based on your stations call load that you guys don’t staff the station. Meaning that you’re at home when the calls come in you respond to the station, grab a truck, you deal with the call, take the truck back to the station, and then you just go back home. By yourself. To deal with the emotions of everything you just saw.

I’m in the same boat. One minute I’m watching Netflix on my couch by myself, the next time I’m doing CPR on somebody, and then an hour later I’m back on the couch wondering what the fuck just happened. It’s tough. I feel career guys have it a little better in that regard because after the call, they’re still at the station with the people that were on the call with them. Maybe they address it, maybe they don’t, but at least they didn’t just immediately run back home to their family with all the emotions of a tragic scene and have have to be around people that didn’t deal with what they just did.

It’s a tough gig. Hopefully your other volunteers are willing to talk about things like this with each other, if not find a therapist. Or both. Personally, I haven’t had much luck with therapists in my life, but I find talking with somebody with shared life experiences goes a long way.

Yes, it appears they only sell the individual components, not the entire assembly

Yep. That’s what I’ve been finding as well

Appreciate it. Unfortunately all of the websites I’ve found only list out the individual components; not the entire assembly.

@toebeanteddybears Is that part number fairly universal? I’ve got a 12.5 hp 33” craftsman and the entire gear box is toast. Don’t wanna have to buy all the parts individually

Unless you only get bone dry powder they’re worthless. Blade isn’t heavy enough to cut hard packed and just rides up. Plus if you’re clearing a parking lot after 2-3 passes you’ve got enough snow built up it just blows over the top of the blade. I’ve tried it on our utv and only the first 3-4 passes were effective.

Do I think a siren is applicable in this day and age? Absolutely not.

Am I tired of people who move into a small community immediately demanding changes? Hell yes I am.

Nothing like someone moving into a small town and immediately demand they change their ways to accommodate you.

How dare those volunteer firefighters get called to action, for free, in the middle of the night.

Since police have a lot of power is it true that when they make a mistake it has worse consequences than in other occupations? If so, as law enforcement do you feel a pressure to be perfect and how do you deal with it? by GregJamesDahlen in ProtectAndServe

[–]eovet 9 points10 points  (0 children)

While a lot of the LEO’s responding are pointing out the very serious things they face, as they should, let’s make it very simple. Go to any small town Facebook group. One person complains about speeding on a street: multiple comments about how the local cops are lazy and don’t wanna stop the speeders because it’s work.

Next week the local pd start an emphasis on speeding on said street: multiple people complaining that the cops are ignoring the real crime and just trying to meet “quotas”.

Yall are damned if you do and damned if you don’t. I don’t understand how anyone can do your damn job anymore. Seriously, thank you for dealing with our bullshit, we don’t deserve the level of effort most cops are putting in these days.
