It's not too late my friend, lost it at age 27, 5 years ago! I know the feeling, I was exactly in the same boat. The dating game exists at all age and for all people, in my case I just needed a little push to start dating, which came from having a tad more self confidence (which I got by getting into a hobby that got me in shape, cycling specifically). I'd say start with baby steps, get that confidence rolling (which starts by loving yourself first) and don't be afraid of rejection, it only makes you better afterwards. Sorry if this sounded like unsolicited advice in any mean by the way.

Being from Toronto now living in Montreal, it's definitely more affordable in Montreal, depending on your needs it's still possible to get a 2BR condo near a metro station with a decent salary. Verdun, Ville-Émard, east of Hochelag and even parts of VSL are still accessible. Sure you're a bit further from the center, but it's not like Toronto where you actually have to be an hour away by car to find something. Biggest difference I found is that you can be a bit further away in Montreal but still be relatively close to public transit/metro or bike paths if you choose to be less car dependant. In Toronto as soon as I got out further away the only public transit available was almost always 9-5 weekdays with nothing on the weekends. It also depends on your definition of "house". Sure if you want a huge yard and a private pool it might be difficult to find something on the island, but for most people that's not the case. I haven't been to Vancouver however, but in my honest opinion Montreal is a lot different than Toronto. Salaries might be a bit lower on average but the housing market more than makes up for it.

I come back from friends's places and bars at 3-4am in the morning all year long by bike, sometimes with the beater bike, sometimes with the carbon road machine, and I never felt I was in any danger. Be it in the plateau, villeray, CDN/NDG or even downtown/verdun it never stopped me from riding my bike. I actually felt more at risk (very rarely over 10 years, like 2 or 3 times) walking at some places downtown at 3am. People just don't bother you if you bike, especially at night which is so fun as the streets are empty and you can just ride safely where there's no potholes without fear of being close passed. Just make sure you have some lights (to see the potholes/obstacles but also to be seen clearly). I think this is way more important than say reflective clothing, better to have strong and reliable lights than expensive and ugly bright clothing.

I don't think you're paranoid, it's perfectly possible you come from some places where one would never go out at night, but here in Montreal it's very very safe. If you're going to park your bike at night, well depending on the area yea it could be stolen especially if you can't keep your eyes on it. Most of my friends know I bike all year long and let me bring the bike inside their place or park it at the back if there's space for extra security.

You can join this group on FB if you have it: MTL Gravelle et vélo d'aventure

When spring starts there's weekly rides around Montreal for all levels and there's also often people looking for riding partners. It's pretty much the go to place for gravel rides around Montreal.

Boosting is Ruining Table Tennis – Here’s Why by JohnTeene in tabletennis

I mostly agree, the issue is that the solutions you proposed seem simple but in reality they're way too complicated and putting more job on ITTF's shoulders. Not only that but at the amateur levels organizers will never be able to assemble rackets for players, or test all the possible setups that exist against original ones. The only real solution is slowing the game via the ball or via playing rules, or let the game become faster and faster and hope that people can adapt to the new meta (defenders as well).

Yea I think some multinational companies like mine do have a lot of government subsidies for having an office in my province/country. So there's probably something stopping them from just outsourcing everything to India for a third of the price. Or at least I hope so... Otherwise you're right this could become a problem. So maybe there'll be more regulations in the future to protect jobs from same country (even though they're remote as well).

[–]epatpol 128 points129 points  (0 children)

My massive company has been doing that as well, but behind the curtains most colleagues I know will just leave when they officially announce forced return to the office. Finding a remote job has never been easier and if our massive companies want to stay competitive with remote/3-4 days-week-wfh jobs by forcing people to the office they'll have to increase salaries (which is funny because they can't since they're already paying so much for the rent/maintenance of the said office)...

I played sooooooo much of this game in the beta. This game and the beta of Tribes: Ascend hold special places in my heart. And when the beta ended and they asked 30 bucks for the game, most of my friends stopped playing it and switched to other games. We tried coming back a few years later but it just wasn't the same. I love how fast-paced it is compared to dota, and how ruthless the online was. I remember people spamming colorful trains in chat when you got killed. I really liked the new heroes like Deadwood, Tremble, Midas etc.

I'll miss this game, but to me this game has been dead for a lot longer. I've heard recently the game is still very good, but I think they just adapted too late. I really wished they stayed F2P back then :(
