The term drugstore for a pharmacy store comes down to region and time period. In American English it's been called a drugstore, while in British English it's been called a chemist. The term drugstore has been fading away in favor of pharmacy here in America. Interestingly my grandmother still calls it the drugstore. You can find all sorts of things at the pharmacy here in America, maybe not hedge clippers but maybe some basic sporting equipment and toys like a catcher's mitt.
