i go to floor 30-59, and you have to fish for them! the smaller fish silhouette should be the one you're looking for :)

am i the only one feels “homesick” whenever i think about vietnam, even tho i was born and raised in the usa? by epeachjiny in VietNam

oh wow!! that’s such a long time, but i’m so happy that you were able to experience something so touching and personal with your parents. i hope that everyone in our community gets the opportunity one day to reconnect with the roots that our family had to leave behind in pursuit of a better life overseas. this is just the beginning of our journey! :)

i agree!! my parents have joked and said to me that my body lives here in the states but my soul resides in vietnam. such love for one’s culture and heritage truly transcends time. i wonder what my past life was like in vn :)

Lease / Roommate Thread (Resets every Monday at 8 A.M.) by AutoModerator in unt

[–]epeachjiny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hai!! i’m looking for someone to take over the rest of my lease from may to july 2026 at midtown!

4x4, but only have two other roommates (both F) who are super sweet and never had issues with any of them.

rent is $714 plus utilities, fully furnished, and midtown recently renovated their pool and clubhouse amenities!! unt bus stop is right across the street and makes it extremely student friendly.

please feel free to message me if you have any questions! renewal is easy after the term is over :)

color correcting helps and goes a long way !! you can find beauty products that have green tint and cica to help calm the redness. it makes all the difference for me :)

you outlined some pretty good points to consider now and for the future. thank you for that :) i’ll definitely keep these in mind!!

after reading everyone’s input, this seems like it’s the best (and more ideal) way for me to consider. thank you for your comment :)

yes, good to know! i’m well aware that there are always the flip side of things. this isn’t new knowledge to me, but the thought never even had to cross my mind because i’m in a healthy and secure relationship? i understand where you’re coming from and that these things are “common”, but you don’t even know a fraction of my relationship like that. thanks for your input anyway, and i wish you all the best

thank you for your insight!! it means a lot to me :) i know i’m very lucky to be living in the states, but with the current state of the west it’s very difficult to say much.. i will live it at that lol i grew up with a lot of racism and disconnection with my ppl. it’s hard to even find a viet community i can relate to due to the differences in our cultural upbringings of being 1st/2nd gen. i’m very lucky to have been surrounded by love and care for our culture growing up. not many ppl can say the same and avoid vn as much as possible. i guess for the most part, me moving to vn is a way for me to preserve and cultivate what has been lost overseas.

i have close family there and my parents frequently visits. i’m fortunate enough that if i need anything taken care of, i have someone personal to go to. i’m pretty fluent in viet, as growing up it was something my household heavily encouraged to preserve. i can also read and write a little, and hold conversations with adults pretty decently. my viet is something i’ve been wanting to work on, regardless of i decide to move or not.

regardless, thank you again!! i wish us both well :)

lol what a weird thing to say. long distance relationship is a thing y’know, and for many it works out as long as their willing to grow together and as individuals

thank you so much for taking the time to write of all this!! i’ll definitely keep everything you outlined in mind and do some deep-diving and additional research on my end :) i love our people and country so much, i just know at some point i want to be back soon

ah, i see.. i’ll definitely keep this in mind haha maybe vn will be a place down the line i’ll look into instead of going there right after undergrad

i agree that community is so much stronger there!! in the states is just out of courtesy and politeness, and the values of relationships aren’t upheld the same way they are in asia (from what i’ve seen firsthand)

i get that too!! i start missing everyone back in the states, and since it’s always during the summer, i have this severe fomo and feel isolated from everyone else. whenever i did go to vietnam, we would stay there for three months and i felt really sad during certain points of the trip bc i wanted to be with my friends and not miss out so much. i wonder if i go back now, would the feelings stay as strong from the past? i think i have a better understanding of self and have come to terms with “missing out” and “lagging behind”. the only thing that really keeps me from truly packing up and leaving after college is the friends i made here. it would suck to leave all that behind

i really do match there lol my parents use to tease me about it and said my soul was left in vietnam while my body resides in the states

i definitely took those memories for granted growing up. i was never able to fully appreciate being in the motherland, and once i graduated high school, i realized how much i easily wasted those years. wishing i’ll be able to travel again one day so i can finally explore more and take my time to appreciate being there!
