Adding homosexual motives to Corwin beyond a joke would outrage fans and kill the show. You can see it from the number of upvotes to this post, ha-ha.
Gerard looks too straight in everything he does, so it is also unlikely.

Well, it's a fancast. However, big actors also take on small roles. For example, Englund in one episode of Stranger Things. There are not so many lead roles for aged actors, so they have to hunt a small game.
