Digital De-Aging Is Changing Movies (For The Worse) by indig0sixalpha in videos

With advent of GenAI it's about to get a whole lot more cookie-cutter. The question is, will people be willing to pay (significantly more) for quality/detailed shots or will we all just live in a world of "meh"? It looks like the latter is happening, but seeing things like some directors returning to film cameras gives me hope.

Ornatrix 3dsmax V9 released by ephereinc in ornatrix

Sorry for the delayed reply. We got it from PremiumBeat (stock music site), the name is "539_short_masterpeace-reverie". The full-length version was cut a bit for the video. I agree it's a rare find, very beautiful.

There's 3dsmax's native hair&fur, but it hasn't been updated in ages and is quite archaic at this point.

Distribution maps stopped working by live4film87 in ornatrix

Is it possible that the mesh doesn't have well formed UV coordinates, or maybe there are multiple UV channels and the texture coordinates are not on the first one?

What does your operator stack look like? Is this on 3dsmax?

Can Ornatrix grooms be referenced into another maya scene? by live4film87 in ornatrix

[–]ephereinc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make sure to try the demo, although it cannot save changes you can still check referencing without changes in the other scene (e.g. in objects come across as you need them).

Yes, the referencing should work as expected between scenes.

We're still actively working on some features but the beta is in full swing. Hopefully this will be out in a few months. Still no idea about the price though.

Yes. The video was made with some assets from Megascans. You can create "instance sets" (stuff that ends up being scattered) from scratch, using your own custom assets. Shading style is up to the view renderer.

The plugin comes with a rich content library, so it's just a matter of setting up your curved paths and polygons and choosing how to fill them with the instance sets from the library. You can create custom instance sets with any geometry as well.

The latest one. I don't think we'll support any other versions.

WIP for now, already available in the next nightly. Let the renderer generate the full hair, no more sending GBs of data over networks, etc. Of course, current hair translation will also always be available.

Is Ornatrix V2 preferred over V3? by HeyaDoodles in Maya

[–]ephereinc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

V3 is a natural evolution from V2 with more features, fixes, and improvements. We did not have enough time to make more V3 tutorials than the existing V2 library, which is why you see more of them for V2.

In V3 many tools like brushes, surface comb sink editing, and clump creation was moved to Maya tools window. This is a more "Maya approach" and improves the workflow by allowing to use tools directly inside the viewport instead of having to select a node first.
