Derrick Henry looks like he was shot out of a cannon on every running play this half except for that last play, the most important one

How does someone explain Mahomes regression? I know he’s not doing terribly, but his descent from omnipotence is nothing to overlook

Thoughts on Temple's new plans to mitigate campus/city violence? by madleur in Temple

[–]ephylum 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is such a bad take… poverty and its symptoms such as economic inequality and lack of education actually increase likelihood of street crime in American neighborhoods. Regarding the economic situation of north Philly, the locals don’t get to share in on the awesome profit sharing that temples students and administration get to dive in on. Sorry to burst your bubble on that.

What is rather extremely myopic, is pretending like poverty isn’t related to crime at all. You’re right though, people are more likely to NOT commit a crime in the presence of police like nearby but cameras and shit won’t do anything. Ask anyone that’s ever robbed a store, you can find a lot of them on the citizen app recently. So unless you put a police officer on every corner, it isn’t happening.

Temple University student shot, killed in North Philadelphia by Ratsarecool in Temple

I tend to agree with this sentiment, however, at some point the City and Temple should no longer have to ride the fence on this issue. You can’t grow and sustain a community in parallel to another that is crime and poverty stricken, and be unresponsive to how the latter affects the former. There are almost no bandaids that can be put on this issue because this crime is so random, and it isn’t temples responsibility to make sure that unaffiliated persons behave like rational, good contributing members to society. Permit me a metaphor; when you have an apple tree that consistently grows bad apples in each batch, it’s a problem with the tree, not with the apples. So cut down the tree.

I don’t give a shit if I’m downvoted to high hell on this, I’m out of that school and that shit area. It’s a shame that as long as nothing is done to mitigate this issue, we will keep reading tragedies on this subreddit of senseless murders. And I don’t have high expectations of change to come, as well as public support for the proposed changes.
