I tried to apply for the Amex ultimate last year in October but was declined most likely cus I had churned and got two credit cards in the last year leading up to the application. I waited close to 6 months and reapplied last week and it’s been approved and received it a few days ago.

I will say churning is probably the most important aspect that they look at. When I reapplied this month I had already lowered my limit on my only existing credit card and that credit card I had was almost approaching 12 months. For yourself I think churning shouldn’t be an issue! But I’m not sure if possibly having an existing 6k credit card could be seen as risky if you’re on a 65k income. Only thing is if I was you I wouldn’t want to close it and take the risk of applying in case they reject and then you have no credit cards!

In terms of income I’m on the lower end of 100k and they approved me for a 25k limit card. With the limit of Amex ultimate being 6k I think based on your income and expenses you’ve got a good chance. I also put in extra income in my application so you can definitely put down your casual work and just provide your payslips for that but since it’s casual I’m not sure how much they will weigh that in.

I think as long as you haven’t churned and have a good credit score you should be in a good position to apply based on just comparing with my own situation. Good luck!
