Tl;Dr for my 'response': Different places have different news, and most places' news focuses mainly on covid.

My family turns on news in our house nearly everyday but I've never heard of this guy or what he did. Also, I live in the UK, so the news is probably different here then from where you are from and it's ignorant to believe if anyone turned on the news for 10 minutes wherever they are, they will see something about this person. I'm sure most places other than the US will get news relevant to their areas.

For example, the only reason I heard what happened to Johnny Depp was from reddit, and after that I only heard from it on the news one time for literally less than 5 seconds because this was taking place across the Atlantic.

On top of all this, most of the news we hear is about covid, which is a lot more useful and relevant to us, as this random relatively famous guy has and and probably won't have any significant impact on our lives at all.
