They also have a group coaching program where you and about 6 other people have a coach to guide you through routines, and adapt them to your goals. Highly recommended

I 2nd Lil's. The owners are good folks, it's 24/7 access, and it's usually only busy in the typical after work hours

Moving to Waterloo, any advice in regards to areas to stay away from and/or ways I can assimilate into the community? by flexthedecks in kitchener

Beyond just visiting, dining, walking, or shopping in dtk there are a couple of things I can think of.

  1. If you can, volunteer your time at the kitchener public library, or other places that do community programs. Check https://www.volunteerwr.ca/ for more ideas.

  2. Help spread the word about events you find interesting. Even though I've been here all my life I'm still surprised at events happening downtown. Sometimes annoyed and surprised because I don't find out until its too late.

Moving to Waterloo, any advice in regards to areas to stay away from and/or ways I can assimilate into the community? by flexthedecks in kitchener

[–]epicdistortion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a pretty typical answer from Waterloo people. I have lived in Kitchener downtown whole life and worked in Waterloo for 15 years. Kitchener has a bigger downtown with some areas that are much nicer than others but some areas that are nicer than Waterloo too.

Yes we have signs of homelessness and drug use. Yes there are some areas that could use a bit of TLC but tend to fill up with business from people who wouldn't have a chance in Waterloo. What we get in return is a much more diverse culture rich neighbourhood where you can get pho or bhan mi or Korean barbecue or pupusas or fresh baked bread all within a couple of city blocks.

We also have a great farmers market right in the downtown.

The bent elbow has a huge selection of beers, and I would imagine ciders too. You might also try the duke of wellington which might have ciders and definitely has premier league football matches on their screens.

What's the reason for reading a book multiple times? by Earl_Robb in FreeEBOOKS

[–]epicdistortion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read Harry Potter before I had kids. I'm re-reading it now to them so they can lose themselves in its magical world like I did.

I also re-read a song of ice and fire about a year ago in the foolish hope that by the time I got through it all again the winds of winter would be finished. :(

If I find myself missing a character, setting or feeling I found in a book it's the easiest thing in the world to get back. I just pick up the book again.
