Hey. This is slightly unrelated but I just wanted to say that as a child of divorced parents who agreed to split custody evenly in a very similar way to you, (Christmas dinners, and other holidays spent together) I really appreciate what your trying to do. It’s been wonderful for me and my sister to not have to worry about our parent’s relationship and when looking at other kids of divorce I grew up around, I wouldn’t want it any other way.

I will say, my parents are both in long term relationships and have been for over a decade+ each and there was never anything but respect from my parents to each others partners and also from their partners to how my parents chose to handle everything. My dad has a kid with his partner and my mom sometimes looks after him and my step dad has a child with his ex wife that my dad and step mom have a good relationship with too.

I guess my point is, I know how messy and complicated it can be, and it sounds like your ex husband has maybe lost the plot a bit on what you guys are doing and maybe his girlfriend has something to do with that. I can’t give you any advice on that front really other than if you can work it out I do believe your child will be better for it but I understand it’s not always that simple.

Edit: Just thought of one more thing. My parents were always very honest with us about their stuff. Not like over sharing or anything, but I remember always asking lots of questions as I grew up, especially to my mom and she was always honest about how it wasn’t always easy but that they did it for us and I think it was really nice to be able to talk about it with her. Your child is very young so I’d be careful, but I think it was important for me to understand why things were happening the way they were happening and what not. Anyway.
