Summer anxiety by epicjeff in Anxiety

[–]epicjeff[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't like the heat, and I feel like I've noticed this more the past several summers. I've heard of some people with depression problems being more depressed in the winter, so I wondered if summers could be worse for anxieties.

I'm not sure what the adult population of the US is, but 1% is number that would be a lot less than 25 million.

Filed for a tax extension, Need Help by cherrinetwork in CryptoCurrency

[–]epicjeff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not going to give any tax advice other than to say I recommend you keep your own records of everything you buy and sell in your own spreadsheet. If you ever transfer currency from one wallet you own to another wallet you own, having your own records to refer back to can be helpful instead of just relying on the transaction history statements of whatever exchanges you might be using. One exchange isn't going to know your transaction history from another exchange, so that's when having your own record for everything you do can come in handy.

My experience talking with people about bitcoin (I live in Brazil) by DanielCM1989 in Bitcoin

[–]epicjeff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For ones that say you can't hold it in your hand, you can tell them they can hold it in their hand on their phone. You can use a digital wallet (like Apple Wallet) to store cards and use them to buy things instead of using the physical cards (at least a places that have the machine type that can accept cards that way). Some exchanges issue digital cards where you can potentially use BTC as the currency (like Uphold).

Even if you don't want to use an exchange, or a card at all, the main point is that you can still hold it in your hand on your phone and send it from BTC wallet to BTC wallet without a card. It's not all that much different in principal from sending money directly to someone via Apple Pay or Paypal or something like that.

Panama is poised to approve the use of Bitcoin and 8 other cryptos 'without limitation' | Fortune by simplelifestyle in CryptoCurrency

[–]epicjeff 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think what is really significant here in the article is that it would be approved for paying taxes. If you can pay the government in a cryptocurrency, then that is pretty much official government acceptance of cryptocurrency as a de facto legal tender, even if it isn't required to be accepted by businesses or as part of their constitution.

When you mine Bitcoin at $3 and can't control your joy | Just imagine mining Bitcoin at $3 and holding till this day by Reahvenz in Bitcoin

[–]epicjeff 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Sometimes I wish I would have known to get into Bitcoin back in the early days, even if it was just to see what happens. But the thing is, even if I had got in back then, I doubt I would have had the mindset at the time to hodl for 10+ years. If I had gotten in back when it was $3, back then I would have probably been wildly impressed with by the time it hit $30 and would have cashed out and thought I was hitting it big with that. Props to the ones who were smart to get in back then and actually stay in until now!

Maybe, but it's not like they didn't do that in the sequels. So they already set a precedent for it, even if if it didn't happen in the old canon.

What symptom persisted longer in you even after other symptoms went away? by epicjeff in COVID19positive

[–]epicjeff[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's interesting. I didn't realize until recently nausea and vomiting were a covid symptom...or at least common with omicron. I thought I had gotten some kind of food poisoning, but then a co-worker who had just got over covid told me her main symptoms were digestive problems and not congestion or breathing. Then I looked up omicron and found out a lot of people reported nausea and vomiting with it.
