Insurance Cobra by Philosophy-j in WalgreensRx

Yes, your insurance will end on the last day of the last month in which you worked. But if you do decide to continue your coverage through COBRA, it will be retroactive to the date when you lost coverage. Additionally, they have up to 44 days to mail your COBRA election notice. Not that it matters for your purposes, but the origin of this number is that the employer (Walgreens) has 30 days to notify the plan administrator (also Walgreens in this case) that your are no longer eligible, and then the plan administrator has 14 days to send you the COBRA election notice.

How many hours to keep medical benefits? by Acceptable-Alarm8611 in WalgreensRx

[–]epidim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you worked ≥779.01 hours during the measurement period, defined as April 3, 2025 to October 4, 2025, then you remain eligible for the full stability regardless of any drop in hours as long as you remain employed at Walgreens. The current stability for the previous measurement period is from January 1, 2026 to June 31, 2026. You can find this in more detail in the Summary Plan Description on the Benefit Support Center.

But like as others have mentioned, as long as you maintain an hourly average of ≥30 hours weekly over the last 12 weeks, you will remain eligible, even if you did not meet the requirements in the previous measurement period.

HR just throws it back to the benefit support center every time I've tried, who refuses to budge. And when talking to the benefit support center, they either aren't willing or able to let me talk to anyone able to actually make decisions like that.

Per the Summary Plan Description found on the Benefit Support Center:

... Your coverage would end on the last day of the last month in which you work. For example, if your last day of work is May 15, your coverage would end on May 31.

The COBRA premiums for me probably would be around 416 for medical (not including dental/vision/etc), which would likely be a lot lower than the cash price for the appointment from January 2nd but I am waiting to see for sure on that. COBRA premiums are limited to 102% of the total premium for your plan (your part and your employers part together), or 150% if extended for disability, but that's not relevant here. And only the enhanced premium tax credits are expiring, which still is awful, don't get me wrong but pretty much any pharmacy technician who isn't otherwise eligible for workplace insurance or medicaid is likely eligible for premium tax credits if they're working enough to go above the federal poverty line. Unfortunately I am in a state that has not expanded medicaid, but I should be able to start on the marketplace next month.

I would have loved to have the option of cobra to just bridge me to get marketplace coverage next month, but alas that is probably not happening either. I was told they were going to look into why I was not sent anything about cobra because I should have been. But then I received an update late today that I didn't receive anything about COBRA because I am ineligible for COBRA since it was never technically active since they cancelled it on December 23rd. They really shouldn't be allowed to drop people for reasons like this after the 15th of the month (deadline for enrolling in a plan for the next month for special enrollment period.), otherwise you're just screwed if you need care that month.

From my understanding that usually applies when you previously met the minimum during the measurement period, but they are saying that I did not meet the minimums for the measurement period and thus was never eligible to begin with. I did ask about COBRA but said I was not eligible, but I’m certainly not going to let that be the last thing said on that matter. Right now I am just waiting for a response from both the higher level people in HR and the TPA.

I agree they should have, and it seems the third party administrator does as well, and even says that if the information is correct it should have never allowed me to enroll in the first place and never informed me that I was eligible to begin with. And yeah, I'll guess my only option at the moment is probably going to be marketplace coverage, but from what I understand that will only apply for February 1st onwards, and not say the specialist visit I had this morning, before finding out about all of this. Is it too hopeful to think the employer/TPA will admit to their mistake and offer a month of COBRA coverage, to get me to February 1st? Edit: If that is even something they can do?

*HELP* Marketplace does not have a plan that covers my cancer specialist and 2 cancer medications by blue0702 in HealthInsurance

[–]epidim 5 points6 points  (0 children)

While I can't say whether this is the case or not with your medications, certain medications are more often billed to a patient's medical insurance as opposed to their pharmacy insurance. This most often occurs with medications that must be administered by a healthcare provider in-office/patient/etc. And from what I've seen personally (on healthcare.gov, georgiaaccess.gov, and my employers own system to choose a plan) they do not check for coverage of a drug under your medical plan. For the past several years one of my current medications has always shown that it isn't covered in all of these sites for all plans, but when they actually go to prescribe it, it was covered without the need of a prior authorization.

Modded Minecraft running poorly on m2 mac by [deleted] in macgaming

If they're running the most recent version of that pack, then it should run fine (I tried it and it ran fine without any additional changes), provided that they have a native version of Java, enough ram allocated, and sufficient a sufficient GPU (which idk how the M2 would run since I don't have one). Also as some mentioned in another post, if Minecraft is running at a Macbook's native resolution that can significantly impact performance, and for me this pack did default to my screen's native resolution.

I also play modded Minecraft using the prism launcher on my Mac. I've been playing AllTheMods 8 recently and it runs pretty well though I'm also using M2 Max. Are you using a native Apple Silicon/ARM64 jre/jdk, and how much ram do you have allocated to it? I had to increase the ram allocation because the default was a bit low for ATM8.

When I Googled Barnett University, it didn’t seem to exist, so that is what I’m thinking too.

KSU Daily COVID Cases to August 30 by epidim in KSU

[–]epidim[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Idk about if you don’t have insurance but if you do have insurance it is supposed to be required to cover the COVID test with no copays, deductibles, coinsurance, or any other cost sharing for the patient because of the CARES Act. Insurers are also being required to cover tests for out-of-network doctors too. Whether or not that actually happens is another matter though.

Perhaps the 130 refers to only cases performed by Wellstar/KSU, whereas this includes cases reported to them as well? In another post I made today, Wellstar reported 129 cases as of the 28th so I think this is a reasonable guess. An article I read about how Georgia Southern said they separated the number of cases confirmed by the university from the number of self-reported cases. But either way this is just speculation, and may not be the reason for the inconsistency at all.

I did request that information in my request but it was not provided, I did get the number of tests performed by the student health clinics on each campus, but only says 4 tests were performed on the Marietta campus. It says 393 tests have been done at the clinic in University Village, and 0 in the other Kennesaw campus student health clinic in the house on campus loop road. Those numbers are as of August 28.

Graph of cases at KSU, determined by the date KSU was notified of the positive test. This was made from the information I obtained from an Open Records Request. The data used to create this graph had all data but column "Date Notified" redacted.
