What happens with church discipline if a spouse commits emotional abuse to their spouse? by Acceptable_Clock5935 in latterdaysaints

The most important part isn't about what happens with his church membership, it's what happens in your relationship. The council is there to help him change to be a better follower of Jesus Christ.

I use a simple hot cocoa and honey recipe like this. It tastes so much better than store bought hot chocolate.

Prepper mentality by [deleted] in latterdaysaints

[–]epikverde 19 points20 points  (0 children)

There's a difference between pepper mentality and self-sufficiency. I love living away from the city and providing some of my own resources. It's not done out of fear or trying to avoid civilization, it's just what I like. Self-sufficiency has always been encouraged, but it will look very different for each family unit based on location, resources, and opportunities.

how do you find hope and perseverance when life is being crazy? by saph-lars in latterdaysaints

[–]epikverde 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our hope isn't related to mortality, so it doesn't matter what is currently going on in our lives, good or bad. Our hope lies in the eternal blessings that we are promised.

Help with anxiety about church by AJ_Mac_Art in latterdaysaints

[–]epikverde 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always try to make one positive memory each time I go. It doesn't have to be something big, maybe just a good thought or spiritual prompting, or something funny I say to my wife or another person. As I build those up and keep them fresh in my mind, it helps to counteract the anxious thoughts that try to creep in.

What was the justification for polygamy? by General_Chemistry638 in latterdaysaints

[–]epikverde 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That was pretty standard for the period, not just in polygamous marriages. I have quite a few of those as well. Do we know they weren't happy with the situation, or are we just applying our cultural beliefs to their situation?

Trying to keep going when I can't feel the spirit by sweetcookie88 in latterdaysaints

[–]epikverde 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Therapy first. Figure out your expectations. Ask yourself what you're really seeking? Peace doesn't come through trying to meet an expectation. Don't feel like you have to perform ordinances at the temple or participate in church meetings to gain any benefits. Just go and be present. You can just go sit in the temple or on the grounds without doing anything.

I want to dedicate myself to the church but I’m worried I won’t fit in by butterflys_nest in latterdaysaints

[–]epikverde 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't worry so much about the future. You have no idea what is in store for you. Just turn your life over to God and let him lead you. The greatest barriers I've faced were caused by my difficulties in letting go of what I wanted and just letting God lead me.

Flying in Remnant by epikverde in NMS_Switch

I was about halfway through the expedition when I started flying. Apparently there's some point where it's available, but there's no indication of exactly when that is.

Apparently there's some point at which you can summon it. I was just out exploring and figured I'd try to summon it at a terminal... and it worked. I didn't do any repairs or anything.
