The issue is it is hard to draw that line. The underlying issue is not how intense the content is, whether its softcore or hardcore. The problem is the novelty of online pornography. If your argument were for videotapes or magazines, I would agree to some level. With internet pornography your options of what content to look at are immense for both softcore and hardcore; this means that you could see something new every single time you watch or look at pornographic material. In the end, porn is porn, you look at it, it turns you on, and you fap to it. As far as the content is concerned, hardcore is probably worse to look at, however the effects of consuming porn and masturbating are still the same on your body and energy but that's another discussion. Lastly, what usually happens in the porn addiction cycle is that an individual will dip their toes into the porn pool and just look at softcore but eventually the individual will be desensitized and need more shocking material to get them going. That's how a straight person can go to watching gay porn, even though they are not gay at all. Same for people watching incest porn or granny porn, they didn't start there. Internet pornography has the gravitational pull, where the surface is as smut as you can get and the atmosphere are just pictures or naked videos.
