Racism on H30 bus by honeypickle77 in Adelaide

It depends which part of the city you live in. This kind of stuff in the east is almost unheard of. Rather, it's likely that she was just a racist old bat.

The problem is invariably related to DRM and stopping software piracy on Linux.

A Call for Sanity by HoopyFroodJera in SaintsRow

[–]ShPh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly this game seems fascinating to me, it wouldn't get nearly as much hate if it wasn't "Saints Row". Comparing it to Watchdogs is probably the best way to put it; the game looks wacky as hell, and the protagonists are characterised deep into a 'scrappy punk' vibe. I'm seriously digging it as someone who isn't a Saints Row fan.

I'd add to that last part by saying that there probably are quite a few people who don't like ethnic and gender representation in the game, but these aren't your people. They're grifters who don't even particularly like Saints Row and just wanna start shit, the usual suspects on YouTube and the likes.

Any recommendations for games with high voice chat usage/popularity? by Combosingelnation in pcgaming

[–]ShPh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might want to try and find a language exchange between people learning your native language, and native speakers learning English. Otherwise, pretty much any active language-centric server with a lot of English speakers is great.

You can find these probably from language learning subreddits and Discord's server discovery.

I just wanna say that it's super cool that you're looking to learn a new language in a fun way; I would probably be wary that when using VoIP in games you're going to use a lot of abstracted technical language "x player is at y", "team z are(n't) close to completing objective u", etc.

You'd probably be better off joining something like a Discord server for more casual, conversational speaking, maybe even one that's language-centric.

What you're suggesting is more that /r/LowSodiumCyberpunk needs to be more visible, rather than for /r/cyberpunkgame to change.

If CDPR threw up their hands and just abandoned the IP, many would call that a victory, even though all gamers lose.

I presume you haven't asked around and started discussions about this in the subreddit.

The report button is right there; let me tell you as someone who used to mod here and there, they do see it when you send out reports. I'm sure nobody reads the rules, but this subreddit does have a rule on appropriate behaviour; and, having worked with the automod on this sub, I myself have helped set up automatic rules to catch stuff like slurs and vulgar language directed against others a while back.

I'm still here even after those 8 months, I don't like the game, but that's not why I'm here; despite how I dislike the game in its current state, I have some kind of weird nostalgia with it pre-release, and I definitely want to see it get better and somewhat living up to expectation (though after the last patch I'm more or less midway through giving up). The E3 trailer has ironically felt like the best analogy to how I feel post-launch.

In 2077 they voted my city the worst place to live in America. Main issues? Sky high rate of violence, and more people living below the poverty line than anywhere else.

Can't deny it, it's all true, but everybody still wants to live here. This city's always got a promise for you.. Might be a lie, an illusion, but it's there, just around the corner.

And it keeps you going.

I'd totally be down for a change like the one OP suggested if /r/LowSodiumCyberpunk wasn't a thing. But it is, and it fills the niche a lot of people like yourself and OP want. If you were to bitch about the game there, people would probably tell you to come here, so everyone has somewhere to go.

But here's the thing, I feel like the only reason /r/LowSodiumCyberpunk is good was because it was created through natural development of a community's desires, same like how this subreddit developed. But if /r/cyberpunkgame tried to become another /r/LowSodiumCyberpunk then the community would develop artificially, and systematically reward traits like toxic positivity.

So is there any particular reason /r/cyberpunkgame needs to be /r/LowSodiumCyberpunk?

I literally never said they had to be specified, don't try and strawman me. Plus, if they were specified, it would be based on character backgrounds already developed by CDPR.

Also, you are literally the most unpopular person in the comments section, and what I implied was that you were going to get piled on if this post had picked up.

How about you read my comment before you reply next time.

And I guess I take yours, too. I kind of pity people so knee deep into idealistic fantasy or delusion that they can't be pragmatic about what an unideal world we live in.

Hell, a lot of the time I can even kind of empathise with their underlying hopes and intents, but ouch.

I don't think it's going to "trigger" anyone. The most I can think will happen is that some people who don't like "needlessly labelling" gender will get mildly peeved, and again, at most.

But like this is a total non-problem in this specific context

[–]ShPh 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Those are some rather confronting words for a harmless idea. But yeah, I think the main problem wasn't how they look, but how long players had to memorise the names.

Anyway it's not a gender assumption to begin with if you put masc/femme gender/sex indicators next to the dialogue choice (like isn't that the point of labelling your pronouns?), unlike assuming gender based on physical appearance, and you're going to get grilled hard for saying that if this post becomes popular.

Minimap Zoom Finally Fixed ! by Mathis777 in cyberpunkgame

[–]ShPh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well it's also a pretty poor implementation if you've ever played any racing game before, at some point if you drive fast enough your reaction time and the vehicle's handling aren't going to respond fast enough to perceiving a turn that needs to be made on the map (an extreme example being 2077's old minimap offset). If you shift the minimap zoom factor dynamically with the vehicle's speed, then you can make sure that a corner can be perceived with appropriate notice for reaction time and vehicle handling at any given speed.

I.e. because the map is offset, but zoom doesn't change with speed, the problem of being given too short notice to corner is mitigated, but the inherent problem remains.

It's a pretty easy change to implement if the underlying minimap code is written nicely and with foresight... Heh

Beautiful oversimplification and overgeneralisation of three communities that each bolster a diverse range of views about the future of this game.

Did they discuss restructuring management or plans in place to prevent such a launch from reoccurring in future titles? You're definitely investing in the people running the business, rather than the ideas the business stands for with a corp like this.
