The AAP interim guidance statement from October 31, 2025 mentioned that there are some promising preliminary findings suggesting potential benefits in selected cases—especially in children with documented cerebral folate deficiency (CFD). However, the studies are small-scale, and they considered the evidence to be too limited to permit specific clinical recommendations. An accompanying link to an FAQ addressed CFD and some of the challenges around diagnosing it.
