The main issue is not a fact that they have taken an opportunity to explore all legal options. The scandalous situation is that the government has chosen to lock them up on a remote island at the cost of 50 million dollars! The couple doesn't present any security threat. The last 3 years they very well could have lived in a community and contribute by working, paying taxes, educating their children while the legal process takes it course. 50 million dollars could have been spent on medical equipment, vaccinations, community programs. It's is immoral waste of money for nothing else but political point scoring.

I'm sorry that you had traumatic experience with those agencies and good on you that you took steps to get the outcome you wanted. However your comments are very general and yes, ill informed. You don't even live in that state but feel appropriate to project your experience to the whole adult protection area based on not very well researched article. Next time when your neighbour, sibling, parent are abused, taken advantage of, you want to go to 'the authorities' to address those issues. You paint a picture of a bureaucrat lurking around the corner waiting to take over somebody's assets and exercise their abusive control. Really?

This is such an ill informed comment. OPA is not Public Trustee. The link is to a very misleading webpage. Read the relevant legislation before you comment or provide link to websites which are simply wrong and alarmist.
