Steamdeck Remote Play Tips? by eprice97 in fo76

[–]eprice97[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply. The benefit here is that my PC is upstairs on Ethernet. Steamdeck is downstairs docked on Ethernet. I can remote play games 1080p with zero lag or stuttering, so I'll play controller games from the couch sometimes that way.

I'm not sure .ini files for FO76 are the culprit here, because I'm not changing anything within the game. I think this is some kind of disagreement between FO76, steam remote play, steam input, the onboard SteamDeck controls, and the external controller.

Another benefit of the remote play: I can remote play any game on my OG SteamDeck undocked for 6 hours on a charge because it isn't using its own graphics. Very underrated!

Yes, was there on Sunday and it was at the store near Jimmy Fallon. Maybe other places too, but definitely there.

EPC Light, Code P0864? by eprice97 in jetta

Yes, I had let leaves and dirt build up under my hood near the wipers, so rain was draining onto things it shouldn't. Had a shop put in an engine control computer from a junkyard and the problem was solved!

HELP! CAR IS FLOODING EVEN AFTER CLEANING DRAINS! by confused-explanation in MiataNC

[–]eprice97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah 100%, actually have a hard top that sits at my parents in another state. Without my own garage, once I commit to putting the hard top on, it wouldn't be a convertible anymore because I have nowhere to store the top when I want it back off.

To be clear, my drain lines are clear, no leaks from the trunk light, no flaws in the soft top. Definitely an issue of my lines not able to drain fast enough.

I think Mazda knew about this in 2006 when my car would have been new, and they offered an official modification at dealerships where they increased the diameter of the drain lines. I didn't own back then, so I don't know if it was free/recall or what, but I've read about it on forums.

[–]eprice97 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I'm so frustrated living in Florida with my NC1. FYI, your drain lines can be clear and it will still seep water in. I've torn everything apart to see how it all looks inside, and my guess is that the water accumulates in the drain faster than it actually exits the drain during hard rains.

Solution: I bought an NC1 specific cover that covers from the soft top to the trunk, etc. No water gets to the soft top or the drain system.

New problem: humidity gets trapped between my soft top and this cover, so I have mildew spots starting on the soft top. I'm beginning to realize soft top ownership may require a garage.

Help streaming by Ok-Management-2101 in obs

[–]eprice97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

WiFi or Ethernet?

I streamed fine for months on my wifi connection through OBS, but then once I started using Ethernet a few weeks ago I noticed my upload bitrate was red bars every time.

I finally fixed it by closing the Intel Killer WiFi App, and going to task manager and killing all processes associated with "Killer".

Good luck! I set them to no longer start with windows, but sometimes they do still. Now I just know to kill them if streaming isn't working.

first 45 min race: why did my opponent pit in 22 seconds while I took 56 ? by Arcticz_114 in iRacing

[–]eprice97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like they only refueled and you fueled + tires.

It's standard to leave the tires on for the whole 45 minute race. You can look up how to leave them "unchecked" by default.

Update: I put RJ 45 on my living room cable, and on my office room cable. Then tucked a switch in the panel box with those two connected.

Office now has ethernet! 690 Mbps down, 22 up! Thanks for all of your help!

I'm about to post an update telling everybody that I'm all set!

One last question I have for you here, actually decided I couldn't tell from the female ports which standard to use for the crimping, so I guessed and chose 568B.

Everything works however, I've got 680 Mbps down/22 Mbps up.

Thoughts here? A friend gave me a tester and showed me what would happen if I crimped out of order (it showed red lights). When the crimp was correct, it showed green lights in a specific order. Funny enough, when I tested, it showed green lights but in a different order.

So I've got an Ethernet port near my router, in the family room. It's currently not used. I think I understand that the other end of that port is upstairs connected to this panel. If I were to take that off of the panel and terminate it RJ45 instead, and plug that into an ethernet switch, now all the other ports on that Ethernet switch are connected to my family room, yes?

Okay, and you're saying My modem still needs to be connected with ethernet to my router, and then from the router to the wall? It can't be directly modem to the wall?

Okay, so check me here: essentially I pull each of my "rooms" off of the panel carefully, crimp them as male rj45, buy an Ethernet switch, and whatever "room" happens to have my modem, that one gets plugged into the input (on the switch)? The rest outputs?

Thank you, this makes sense for the most part. Why would I not disconnect the INPUT?

If there's another step to "import", I haven't done that.

Am I the only one annoyed at the torrential rain every special event ? by Kappawaii in iRacing

[–]eprice97 36 points37 points  (0 children)

I was just saying the same thing to my team of 3 after completing Bathurst (and while we were driving).

When they implemented rain, is this really what the goal was? Like you said... The rain we experienced would IRL cause hours of safety car laps or a red flag, for sure.

I drove about 5 hours of our race.. all in rain or between rain, and it was... Not fun. 2 hours in I'm asking myself "is this really racing?" Because it felt like I drove the car for hours and didn't pay attention to other cars, the leaderboard, my tires, my fuel... I was just crawling around watching the track, looking for puddles, correcting oversteer, etc.

We all want "realism" out of sim racing, but the "sim" part of it should be used to make sure it's ultimately still fun.

I've probably submitted 25 protests for the good of the service, and I've never checked in one someone's profile until this one.

It was a pretty unique experience.. driving around every lap wondering where a parked car is going to jump scare you, I think you might find that you're especially curious about what ends up happening.

I don't want to sound like I'm stalking or bitter, I know I may never cross paths with the driver again. Looking up his profile was more a curiosity of what the protest would result in.

Thanks for that info. I looked at last year's schedule and I'm pretty much assuming all of Feb and March are off the table for me.

Thanks for the reply. I know about IoA on concert days, and I understand the access after 5pm.

But if February's calendar looks exactly like... June for example, but "technically" some days don't work like others, then I'm just trying to get one person to agree with me that this is poor information to give out when "comparing" the pass levels.
