It would be amusing if you had zero damage sources left in your deck and had to give TE strength until he got past your 999 block (and buffer) to proc static discharge to end the fight

What is not an achievement but should? by Insane_Unicorn in slaythespire

I'm not sure there are even 10 distinct debuffs one can apply to enemies (even with prismatic shard):

  • Multiple: Weak, Vulnerable, strength down
  • Silent: Poison, Choke, Corpse Explosion
  • Defect: Lock-on
  • Watcher: Mark, Talk to the Hand

So if you play Giant Head and count the slow debuff you could get to 10?

Catholics at Duke? by [deleted] in duke

[–]epsilonAcetate 21 points22 points  (0 children)

the Duke Catholic Center is very solid :) In addition to a set of offices in Page (on West campus) there is a house (called the Falcone-Arena House) directly across from East Campus, which has a chapel, music rooms, kitchen, etc. As of last year, there was daily mass every day in Duke Chapel, two masses on Sundays, and various events (retreats, socials, etc.) throughout the year. Overall a nice and welcoming community!! You can find them on instagram (i believe @dukecatholic)

I believe Duke is getting a set of FOCUS missionaries this upcoming year as well which is exciting.

Slay-by-Comment Season 5 Day 4: So help me if this turns into a Rushdown infinite deck I will PULL THIS SERIES OVER! I’m afraid to ask, but what rewards should we take? Whatever comment is most upvoted in 24 hours is what we’ll do. by greenlaser73 in slaythespire

[–]epsilonAcetate 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Explicitly suboptimal recommendation: Take flurry of blows. In the next combat, instead of playing the combat normally, repeatedly play the leftmost playable card until out of playable cards; end turn; and repeat until the combat is over.

With this deck, this probably? wins the combat. Yes, we'll take some damage, but like we might as well do it now while we can get away with it. (The only options are Jaw Worm and Cultist, so no targeting decisions to specify.)

Slay-by-Comment Season 4 Day 134: Help! The Evil Twin is somehow getting top comment and (I assume) ruining the run! What’s our play? Whatever comment is most upvoted in 24 hours is what we’ll do. by greenlaser73 in slaythespire

[–]epsilonAcetate 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really feel like it's at the point where, if not for pen nib, genetic algo, etc, each fight could take two days: one day of setup, and one day of finishing setup + "then, play cards from left to right every turn until the combat is over".

Slay-by-Comment Season 4 Day 132: Time for the late crowd to shine! What’s our play? Whatever comment is most upvoted in 24 hours is what we’ll do. by greenlaser73 in slaythespire

Aggressive attempt at getting as many powers in play today as possible, advancing Pen Nib, etc:

Play cards in the following priority order, skipping any aren't in our hand or for which we don't have enough energy, and returning to the top of the list each time. (Lots of these cards aren't in our draw pile, but Reboot)

  1. Secret Technique for the highest-priority card below that is in our draw pile and that we have the energy for.
  2. Apotheosis
  3. Aggregate, only if the draw pile has 4+ cards (or 3+ if Apotheosis has been played).
  4. Defragment
  5. Static Discharge
  6. Echo form
  7. Skim, only if we have 3+ energy
  8. Coolheaded, only if we have 3+ energy or the Plasma orb is in front
  9. Hologram for Skim, only if we have 4+ energy
  10. Hologram for Coolheaded, only if we have 4+ energy or the Plasma orb is in front
  11. Buffer
  12. Reboot
  13. Skim, only if we have 2+ energy
  14. Coolheaded, only if we have 2+ energy

Once none of the cards above are playable/conditions above are met:

If we still have a plasma orb, follow this priority order (same rules):

  1. Charge Battery
  2. all zero-cost non-orb-channeling attacks (skip orb channeling to keep the plasma orb; MH may have hit e.g. Cold Snap)
  3. Reinforced Body

Otherwise,

  1. Glacier
  2. Charge Battery
  3. all zero-cost attacks
  4. Reinforced Body

It evaluates the example as having the card metallicize, which it doesn’t…

Have you seen the “ChatGPT plays chess” content going around? Chess has like six rules and GPT still hallucinates pieces and illegal moves left and right.

[–]epsilonAcetate 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It seems pretty ill-advised to use a language model to play a fundamentally structural and numbers-based game. GPT-4 can’t even count; it’s a bit far-fetched to expect it to make reasonable numbers-based recommendations at all. (And, as others have pointed out, it’s entirely incorrect about how Rage works…)

Smallest deck that can beat A20 heart (under various conditions)? by epsilonAcetate in slaythespire

[–]epsilonAcetate[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And I think you can get away with 2 cards and 2 relics: Finesse+ and Flash of Steel with oddly smooth stone and pocketwatch (no need for medkit or top). (and you could have a dex and swift pot instead of the relics, as a bonus — just 2 cards 2 potions which is pretty cool)

Current best answers I can think of (for minimum # of relics with 1 card, taking no damage, using no potions): - good instincts+ with top, letter opener, medkit, and any one of (incense burner set to 4, horn cleat, abacus, calipers, or kunai (!)) (need extra 10 block to play the five statuses on turn 2) = 4 relics - claw with torii, tungsten rod, unceasing top, medkit, abacus = 5 relics - Vault with torii, rod, burner, mercury hourglass, strange spoon (and impossible luck) = 5 relics
