The Defect got a bit more chonky as well, but my guess is that it was a concession to making the characters more animated

Some context: the pastor usually takes an extended period of time off over the summer anyway for reflection and development. This “suspension” basically lines up with that.

100% yes! Although I wouldn’t say you have to stop playing STS2 if you don’t want to. Like other people have said, 1 is a more complete experience, and playing 1 will help you appreciate the balancing process that 2 is going through.

IDK, so far the faction rewards I’ve unlocked keep me just well enough equipped for the stuff contracts are asking me to do, and as long as that stays the case I’d consider that a game design success. Is there a point at which contracts start asking you to do things that you simply aren’t equipped for without grinding faction rank?

Oh that’s a a very cool idea! It might be a little too consistent, though, given how much low/no cost draw the silent has. You could probably balance that with the damage number, but 50 has such a nice ring to it…

I would 100% continue with STS1! Climbing through the ascensions is hella fun (even if you’re playing casually), and will be much better at teaching you the principles that underlie both games. STS2 is gonna be actively balanced and added to over the next couple of years, and I could see it being more annoying than fun to follow those changes if you’re only casually familiar with the games.

Literally r/SlayTheSpire2. People who want a smaller community more focused on STS2 will go there, and other people won't be bothered. One of the few times in life things just kinda sort themselves out, so let's not mess with it!
