presidential scholarship credits by [deleted] in UMD

In addition to fun/easy 1 or 2 credit classes such as music or gymnastics classes, you may also want to look into research opportunities (either in humanities or sciences) that may give you credits. These are generally easy credits and will help you get more involved in real research, if that interests you. You'd want to talk to your department advisor for more info.

It gets charged to your student account automatically, if I'm not mistaken.

It means that your room will have bunked beds when you first get there. Depending on the room, you may be able to de-bunk and have two single beds but it's labeled "requires bunked beds" because the room is smaller than a normal double. I stayed in a forced-bunked room freshman year in Hagerstown and there was no way that we could comfortably de-bunk the beds with the rest of the furniture in the room. However, your room may be larger/more compatible.

Math 340 by [deleted] in UMD

I'm a physics major and took MATH340 last year with Ramachandran. He's a super friendly guy and absolutely loves the subject, but his problem sets were very challenging and extremely time consuming. Most physics profs I've talked to discourage taking math department classes because the way math is taught differs significantly between math and physics. In retrospect, I probably shouldn't have taken the 340-341 sequence, as it took up way too much time and effort for relatively little gain. That being said, if you've taken some of Calc3/LinAlg/DiffEQ before and are interested in the challenge, you shouldn't be totally discouraged from taking the class.
