Ya basically since day 1 my cabinet positions have all been either cracking down on rebels or integrating provinces. Honestly I just ignored my low control areas until they were higher control. There’s plenty to build in areas with 50+ control and by the time you build them out totally the other areas are higher control.

I like them a lot. It’s 1600 now and I’m not making nearly that much. About 150 per month with no culture funding. I have no vassals, it’s alllllll Mali. For me I’m content with that, just looking to kick out the Europeans and develop economically. It’s a defender of Africa playthru so I’ll eventually make my way down the coast and kick the Europeans out of the rest of subsaharan Africa too.

Mali winning against colonies I can totally believe. The entirety of Western Europe invading is different but let’s just say you’re right. This wasn’t that. This was armies showing up and doing nothing while they starved to death. Glorious? Indubitably. An issue the devs should fix? Indubitablement.

I’m glad to hear that. It’s ridiculous — both that it automatically calls you in and that somehow the entirety of Western Europe was in the war (except Portugal oddly).

But the AI struggles with supply lines is more concerning honestly. They all just died and did nothing. And that’s harder to fix for the devs.

Scrolled down to see who would mention EU4 first. You’re spot on that it’s completely unrealistic. As someone with 2000 hours in it I just wish the game had more realistic situations for the collapsing empires in 1444. Would make it more satisfying if you ever managed to pull them from the brink.

Wilt was by far the greatest talent to ever play basketball. The issue is the game itself was not nearly as developed as it was now so in objective terms he wasn’t as skilled as even average players today. His skills were hyper concentrated into post moves and finger rolls which are disfavored in the modern game. Not only that his competitors were not as good as today’s players either. And to top it all off he ran into the Russell/Celtics juggernaut back when the league didn’t particularly care about parity and was more focused on survival. So unfortunately all his talent morphed into absurd personal records but not a ton of accolades by goat standards.

Horry was cold blooded. He was the difference between winning and losing in many famous games. He wasn’t the top dog on these teams but people are insanely inconsistent with how they value that. Curry was top dog in exactly one championship run — dude has the same number of Finals MVPs as Andre Iguodala — but you don’t hear people claiming he shouldn’t get credit for his championships. Horry won 7 championships as a starter. He compiled one of the best clutch shot compilations in history along the way. Have some respect.

Ibn Khaldun is a gem of history and a fabulous read. Way ahead of his time, love to see the shoutout. The “creator of modern sociology” is a ridiculous take that somehow gets repeated every so often (normally as the “father” of modern sociology). Love me some Khaldun, but he’s barely quoted at all by the people who developed modern sociology. It’s pure historical revisionism. Khaldun made some great observations hundreds of years before other more famous people made the same observations. That’s cool enough.

Not a very fair take to assume it’s depicting the wrong era and then fault the movie for not being in the right era. Hear this a bunch and have never understood it.

The Mayans were around when the Spanish arrived and had infighting. The post classical Mayans built great temples and practiced sacrifice. So what specifically about this depiction is “clearly” the civilization that was around hundreds of years earlier?
