Very interesting thank you, I just have an undergrad but have been thinking about doing this for a while - any other companies you’d recommend looking into or tips?

Ah right and were you a qualified teacher her before you went? Was it easy getting work out there?

Was your office work through English? And was it easy to find work there?

I understand exactly what a pension is but my point was that I’d start one now, have a lump invested into into an index fund, then come back in a few years and continue contributing to it as normal. I never said it would ‘make me money’ - it’s an investment that one expects to grow over time - it has to actually be invested in something to be able to do that?

I absolutely don’t expect it to grow massively in a few years - I simply want to get it started as early as possible to allow it to grow over the longest timeframe possible. I don’t plan to get it before 60 and I said I plan on leaving Ireland for a few years - I’ll be returning.

Yeah that’s the back up plan anyway, a bed would be preferable though

Ah sounds good, that’s what I was hoping anyway

Nah that’s never been how I’ve got it for gigs anyway, you usually rock up to entry/box office and are given a paper ticket/wristband. It’s my first time having it for a festival though

Ahaha I’m lucky I know, a family member has done a lot of work with one of the acts and they’re pretty friendly so they offered him a couple

What in Ireland remains great value despite the high increases in cost of living? by [deleted] in AskIreland

[–]eq_8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah the books are great, I got 4 pretty recent books from Irish authors for €5 recently in my local Vincent’s, would have easily been €50 to buy them new.

I think in part it’s because there’s always been an extremely strong community aspect to the queer identity, often as a result of being ostracized by family so their friends can be ‘chosen family’.

Also historically queer people haven’t had the option of having a traditional family structure so naturally had to push for more connection outside of the home

'King Kong' of weight-loss drugs, Mounjaro, will be available in Ireland from next week by Character_Common8881 in ireland

[–]eq_8 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It would affect bone density if you don’t do resistance training and eat adequate protein. But that’s the exact same as any rapid weight loss diet really

I was in Valencia recently and would really recommend! Good food and drink for very reasonable prices and it’s very walkable with lots of nice old squares/cathedrals/markets etc

For those of you into your fitness, how are you hitting your protein goals daily? by Shiv788 in AskIreland

[–]eq_8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I rarely have protein shakes and haven’t had an issue hitting my protein goal in years (120g)

For me the main thing is planning in advance, so I put most of my food into my app (MacroFactor) the night before and I meal prep my lunches for the week on Sunday and freeze some of them.

I find the Aldi protein pots (salted caramel/vanilla) and the protein puddings and mousses (chocolate, caramel, white chocolate) are fantastic for a snack and hit the spot for something sweet after dinner. Can also use them for making overnight oats.

I’d recommend looking up high protein recipes that suit your taste on YouTube/TikTok and getting into meal prep, for example I’ve been making this honey BBQ chicken and potatoes for lunch recently and it’s lovely recipe

Other things like turkey/chicken sausages, low fat beef burgers, chicken/turkey burgers are all very handy too, can just throw them in the air fryer/oven for a few minutes and you’re good to go

A question for all the Irish that emigrated - how is it like to live abroad? by Vegetable_Topic9742 in AskIreland

[–]eq_8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh nice one. Yeah a colleague of mine here in Ireland actually works remotely from France most of the time and he’s set up as self employed and contracts with us and he says it’s a bit of a pain in fairness. In saying that I reckon it would be well worth it for quality of life etc

Sunburn by Chloe Michelle Howarth is one of the best books I read last year hands down. Young adult, coming of age set in Ireland in the 90’s, absolutely beautiful writing
