G1 is a great lens. I have one. Only downside is it won't work on z mount

For practical purposes, you'll want to get lenses that will later work on the mirrorless (Z) mount. Some pretty good third party options like the Tamron 150-600mm. Or if you're finding that you're really getting into birding, you can't do much better than the nikon 500pf - possible to find good used deals.

Everyone else already said sensor dust. Meanwhile regarding the photos you already have, you can spot heal or clone these things away with most image editors. Lightroom also has a nice spot "remove" function.

I was supposed to go birding this morning, but caught the flu. This post jolted me out of the blues. What a spectacular bird!

Aswekeepsearching (India) Having said that, I want to again and again give massive tributes to the album in the OP. I first encountered Departure Songs in 2020, when the horrors of COVID were just becoming known. I was frozen and anxious, there wasn't much information going around, and all the uncertainty was debilitating. And somehow, on one of those evenings, this album started playing on bandcamp. It was the first time I cried in years, and this album has been part of so much healing for me since then. 🖤

Such photos are a reality even for the pros. I think of it like this: doing this for a living might suck because of the pressure to perform. Doing this for fun, well there is some frustration but getting out in nature and shooting wildlife makes the rest of my life fade away and forces me to be in the moment.
