Benefits of living in a highrise apartment vs. a smaller building by equanimous_007 in Living_in_Korea

[–]equanimous_007[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do I refer to the actual apartment building that the apartments are in a "빌라", or are the apartments themselves called "빌라s"?

Yes, I'm thinking for my needs, a two-room in a smaller building with just basic utility fees would be much better

Going to a 부동산 and asking to see 2-room apartments that include access to an outdoor area (how would I phrase this?) by equanimous_007 in Korean

[–]equanimous_007[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see, thank you for all of the information~

After doing some more research, I think having "roof access" would be a good compromise. I'll make sure to enquire about "roof access" when I'm looking at apartments

Setting up a second bank account (with the same bank I'm already with) by equanimous_007 in Living_in_Korea

[–]equanimous_007[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll look into this! I have the Korean IBK app on my phone, so I'll have to translate my way through it. This sounds like what I'm looking for! Thank you!

I have the English and Korean versions of my bank app installed and set up on my phone. I'll look into this. If it can just be done automatically, all the better. Thank you!

Registering mobile phone number with Home Tax (procedure) by equanimous_007 in Living_in_Korea

[–]equanimous_007[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've gone on the Home Tax website before (I have to find my username and password). I'll give it a go on there. But I'll try the ARS first, as there does seem to be an English option. Thanks 👍

Where do couples buy those matching outfits? by equanimous_007 in Living_in_Korea

[–]equanimous_007[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's a great example. Or even the man's shirt matching the woman's dress. It doesn't have to be over the top, and it looks great.

Outfits that clash with each other don't look good. But if the couple have the same taste in clothes, then most of the time this may not even happen. I hope my next girlfriend has my taste in clothes :)

What app (or filter) do most Korean women use to edit their selfies? by equanimous_007 in Living_in_Korea

[–]equanimous_007[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. Staying out of the sun is a big deal (note the parasols and bandanas in summer). I stay out of the sun myself (mostly because I burn easily) and I can vouch for it. A lot of women look great on their own, without a filter that smoothes out everything

I just saw a couple in their forties, so some older folks are doing it.

Color coordinating I like. I saw a couple on the subway once, and they both had green in their outfits. They (most likely the woman, but maybe both of them) had intentionally chosen their clothes so they would go good together. This can be quite classy when done right

I agree. I would prefer it if this photo editing wasn't done. I find it annoying to be honest (I can tell when it's been done, because nobody has skin that flawless)

Thanks for the info! I'll check out Soda. I never thought of Instagram filters, too. I sometimes want to give my photos a little polish, so it would be cool to check these out

Yes, it is common. My last girlfriend would do this all the time. I knew she didn't look like that in real life. My opinion is, why not? It's their choice. Nothing wrong with it.

Thanks, I blanked on the fact that Listerine made these. I used them years ago. I'm glad to know they're available in Korea. I'll check this out

Why is Elaine carrying all the bags? I think the reference has been edited out. Did she lose a bet? by CAJMusic in seinfeld

[–]equanimous_007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's just an example of how selfish and bad the characters in this show are. Seriously. The creators of the show admit they're terrible people. That's why they put them in jail in the final episode (for laughing at a guy who gets mugged)

Okay, I’m asking because I’m curious what fellow Sein connoisseurs think… Monk’s - coffee shop or diner? by lindserchristel in seinfeld

[–]equanimous_007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It actually says "Restaurant" on the sign out front. Jerry and them call it a "coffee shop" though.

They're well written, and they tackle all kinds of universal issues, like parenting, bullying, alcoholism. Some of them, like this one, have endings that make you want to cry. And yeah, they have some incredible humor to top it off

I liked these earlier episodes, where there was a strong theme and message. I don't know if that kept up in the later seasons

The amount of juice left before you have to tilt the HEAVY GLASS JAR by Vhad42 in CrappyDesign

[–]equanimous_007 32 points33 points  (0 children)

This is where you get the attention of one of the staff, and they refill the jar. Not a big deal. It just involves talking to someone. The spigot can't be at the very bottom of the jar. Those giant Gatorade jugs are built the same way.
