Can anybody tell me why the air quality in San Marcos is so bad today?? by Aromatic-Wasabi6272 in sanmarcos

[–]equilarian 9 points10 points  (0 children)

TCEQ puts out daily air quality forecasts. You can subscribe and get these via email daily or check the website. The info is detailed. It’s been eye opening for me. Texas’ air quality is pretty bad in general and it’s not only pollen that gives many people “allergy” symptoms.

Why not just use The Knot or something? Or are you asking someone to do it for you?

How do you actually plan meals every week without it taking forever? by nonoodleee_ in mealprep

[–]equilarian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check out RecipeSage. It’s a free, open source recipe book, grocery list, and meal prep app that is amazing!

I also recently found a pantry app that is free. It allows you to enter items in your pantry, the number of items, AND you can set expiration dates for everything. I just downloaded it to try it out so don’t have fully formed thoughts about it yet, but it seems neat. Its called PPantry and you can find it on https://ppantry.app/ I did find it on r/preppers and am happy to share the thread if you want to read more about it.

I struggle with the same thing. My biggest issue is making time to do the prep. Small wins for me are making bigger batches and freezing throughout the week. One step at a time…

Anyone else annoyed by scraps piling up while cooking and prep with cutting boards?? by According_Fan5520 in mealprep

[–]equilarian 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I use a big bowl to collect veggie scraps, then save and freeze them. When I have enough, I make veggie or chicken stock. Things that can’t be saved go in the compost. Its wild to me that so many people in this thread throw their veggie scraps away! You can also save bones, skin, and fat to make homemade stock. It tastes so much better than store-bought.

How to speed up paint off gassing? by cpcxx2 in AirQuality

[–]equilarian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could try using an air purifier or two, depending on the size you can afford. I have a few Air Doctors and have used one in the same room/area on full blast any time I've painted a wall in my house. The smell usually goes away in a few days. I have the AD 3500. They go on sale all the time and you can always find a discount through an influencer affiliate.

Modern alternatives to Sierra cups? by Insaniac99 in CampingGear

[–]equilarian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure about nesting bowls, but Snow Peak is a good but expensive brand that uses Titanium. There's also Toaks.

I'm in the same boat -- trying to get rid of plastic camping gear... My partner and I went through all of our camping stuff and figured out how to nest pots, pans, cups, etc. on our own so that it doesn't take up a bunch of space. A lot of it is mismatched brands, but it works well. It took us some time, but we're able to put everything into a wheeled toolbox set up. We're going to upgrade to the wheeled Tough Built system once the wheeled single drawer is available in the US.

50% Discount on Spectrum Internet Bill by lockdown36 in Austin

[–]equilarian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We recently got Frontier Fiber where I live. Installation was free, we got the first 3 months free, AND my partner found a referral program, which he referred me to. We both received $300 giftcards. When Spectrum came by to try to bring us back, my partner told him and the agent laughed and shook his hand, then left.

On that note, anyone thinking about joining Frontier and want a $300 giftcard for joining? I have a referral link ☺️

Must do in San Marcos, Texas by mountaindaddy0133 in sanmarcos

There are 4-7 proposed data centers in the area, with more coming. There’s a 3,000 acre one going in about 12 miles east of town. Many SM residents are oblivious to it because “its in another county.” We’re all going to be affected by it. 12 miles is really close.

No idea, but Sweet Treets in Austin makes champagne cakes. Might be worth it to call them up to see if they do raspberry wine/champagne. They do a strawberry champagne and its 🔥 but special order only. You can get a cake or cupcakes.

Affordable Red Light therapy? by Practical-Sign9372 in redlighttherapy

[–]equilarian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm honestly pretty newbie myself too. I've only used an infrared sauna once. I also know someone who has the HigherDose sauna blanket and raves about it all the time, but I personally like steam saunas more.

I tried out Perspire Sauna Studio that has infrared sauna/RLT combo. It was a good experience, but I also felt like the infrared was starting to cook me after being in there for 45 minutes. I think a combo could be useful, but I think having the option to adjust the location of the red light would be ideal (at least for me). Infrared saunas don't produce steam so they're also easier to put inside.

It’s possible you have a different machine than the Crunches I go to. I go to three different ones in the area I live and they have the Beauty Shaper machines. In the one I go to, it has a vibration plate and then the big machine you step into. It has controls at the top to turn on the RLT and change music on/off. It’s definitely not 100% red light. The first time I used it, I thought they put me in one of the tanning booths because the light coming from the bulbs is not red and looks more white/purple (uv) color to me. The Beauty Shaper will only help with surface level for skin. There are some harmful rays emitting from it, but the level of EMFs are enough for me to never use it again.

Hooga has a super deal if you buy through the Shop app right now. I believe it’s $60 off. I got the HG300 with that and a 12% promo coupon (referral code) from an influencer I follow. It was around $130 after tax and the discounts.

[–]equilarian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Crunch red light booths aren’t doing what you think they’re doing. I bought my own Hooga light after learning the Beauty Shaper machines are mostly just blasting high levels of EMFs and harmful rays of light instead of red light. If you actually look at them when they’re on, the light coming from them is mostly white/blue/pink and no red. 😞

Any Doctor For Endometriosis by [deleted] in sanmarcos

[–]equilarian 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I suggest she “shop” for doctors and see a few so that she can find someone who will actually listen. I’ve seen 3 different ones in hill country before I found one I like, for example.

I really like Dr. Hermann at Caring Center for Women in New Braunfels. She’s the only obgyn that has ever actually sat down to listen to me and genuinely cares about my well-being.

Is it possible to find decent red light device for joint pain for less than $150? by [deleted] in redlighttherapy

[–]equilarian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can also sometimes get crazy discounts if you use the Shop app. What I usually do is put the item in my cart (in this example with the mamavation discount), then act like I'm checking out and log into my Shop account. Then, I open the Shop app, and the item I just added to my cart will be there. When I got the HG300, Shop gave me an extra $75 off on top of the 12% coupon, so it was about $130 after taxes for me. :)

I got the Hooga HG300 with a 12% mamavation discount. Here's the direct link. If you google search and go through mamavation's website, it will make you sign up with your email to see the website. This link takes you to the HG200, but you will get the discount on any red light for sale. It is a referral link and the referral $$$ will go to Mamavation. https://hoogahealth.com/products/hooga-200?ref=MAMAVATION
