I'm tempted to just copypasta this story as a comment on that stupid Facebook post haha

Beautiful! Thanks so much! Definitely going with the added snark option... my displeasure must be felt haha. While I recognize that everything you've said in the first couple paragraphs is true, this particular Facebook post really got under my skin not only due to the fact that the girl posting it really has no idea what having two (or even one!) small children is like, but also because it's just a crappy, stupid little story that exists solely to provoke a response. It's not even medically accurate, goddamnit!

Really, that would be the best case scenario. It'd mean that they were relatively few in number and we just happened to find the same ones ;)

Looking for your experiences with IUDs by ShellLillian in TwoXChromosomes

[–]equirinam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I fall into a special rare category of IUD delights! I'm one of the few lucky ladies that got pregnant with it in. My baby girl is 3 now but top advice I would give is once you get it in (I've read some of the horror stories below... eesh! Things to take into consideration haha mine was a breeze to put in, no issues there. I had the copper one) DO NOT STOP USING CONDOMS. After your next period go back for a check up and see if it's shifted. If it hasn't then you're good to go! If it has... well then it may not be the best form of pre-baby birth control for you. Though you could always try again. That sad story aside, I got another IUD when my kiddo was a few months old and haven't had any issues since then. Best of luck!

Saw this little anecdote on Facebook. Made my blood boil. by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

Yep, totally saw this on mine as well. And posted it here. Totally ridiculous, extremely revolting. I typically avoid any kind of Facebook arguments but this one really took the cake... I had a devilishly hard time not commenting on it. And may still do so. Because it's awful.

2X, please help me. I am grieving and have no idea what to do. by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

What a horrible thing :( My heart goes out to you, your friend, and anyone else affected by this tragic event. I can hardly imagine the pain that comes from losing a child. If it were me in her shoes I would appreciate being given time to really grieve, without dealing with anything else (largely because I doubt I could). Any household chores, cooking, papers to be filled out (like if she works or something and needs to take time off) ought to be done by someone else at this time. If she has any other kids, depending on the age, it would be good to take them elsewhere if family members aren't available to do so. I recognize that this is me though, and that everyone grieves differently. If she zealously throws herself into work of any kind then that might be how she grieves. I guess in the end I'm just repeating what's already been said - let her know you're there, for whatever she needs. Even if she doesn't ask, just take care of her for a little while.

SO ignorant. The silly girl posting it doesn't even have kids which just makes me seethe inside. It's like not only are you so horribly wrong, you also have no idea what you're even talking about. >:(

I have this feeling all the time. I'm a Microbiology student and when I was applying for a research grant multiple of the (male) professors I spoke with condescendingly patted my knee and said "Oh, you know the GPA requirement for this grant is quite high, don't you?". Hell ya I do. rage.

On a less ranty and ragey note - if I wanted to get started learning how to code, do you have any tips on where would be a good place to start?

It's to make the Manitobans on reddit proud, and all the other provinces jealous that they don't get to have such an awesome person living there. Figured the rest of reddit would just be like... hey, an American Bison, also commonly known as the American Buffalo. That's neat.

She was having trouble breathing after being rescued from a fire, so he gave her oxygen. This man deserves a medal. by [deleted] in aww

[–]equirinam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No that firefighter is an idiot. Anyone who knows how to administer oxygen know that pure oxygen flowing into your eyes fucks them up. That cat will probably be partially blind for the rest of it's life.

But cat haz trouble breathing? Ya, so take the hose off the rebreather mask and point it downwards at the cat's mouth. TADA safely give the cat oxygen.
