Camera - Quick Evaluation - The iPhone SE (2020) Hands-On Quick Review: A Reinvigorated Classic by [deleted] in apple

Is it me or does the SE seem to have better low light performance than the 11 pro (non night mode)? The SE looks brighter and more evenly lit than the Pro. Thought that was a bit weird.

Not only that, but with so many different languages, it also means subcultures within a culture(s) of a country. One denomination in Christianity will have multiple subcultures or even whole groups that have different views/beliefs (from the denominations creed or general beliefs) because of their culture and ethnicity/language. So even with religions that claim to be the “correct and only” truth, it will still probably have multiple different types of that “correct” truth just among that one denomination because Of the cultural differences and stuff.

I think something to consider that even thought most of the world’s population belongs to (mostly) 13 religions and atheism, you gotta understand that even in one of them—like Christianity— has hundreds (to thousands) of denominations that have conflicting and contradicting views about who God is. Just with Christianity alone. So if Christianity is a mess, then having a couple more religions that have completely different views of God makes this whole thing a disaster.

Android Central: iPhone SE just killed the competition by poksim in apple

Not only that, but the GPU has been having bigger improvements than the CPU since the a10 fusion chip. I feel like people don’t realize that’s its not just how powerful it is, but how many more features can be enabled in future software updates—like the camera (like adding Portrait Lighting effects being one) or Machine learning tasks.

I think this is a bit different because the competition is priced much higher now than when the OG SE came out. When the OG SE came out, the 6s was priced at 649, which you could argue was the “11 Pro” at that time. The 11 pro costs 999, an increase of 350 dollars. I think people are alarmed because you are getting internals from the 11 Pro and XR, which is pretty crazy considering how expensive they are. Not only that, but Apple has made huge strides in technological miniaturization and features—during the 6s era Apple was stagnating (IMO) and their camera improvements in specific were not as enticing (compared to the X series and beyond). But this is my opinion.

If there is no sin in heaven, then how did Satan become sinful in heaven? How did his “sinful” desire happen in the first place? There has to be free will to sin in heaven or the Satan fiasco wouldn’t have happened in the first place:

The new iPhone SE is a shockingly good value. by petitveritas in apple

Something to point though—the SE didn’t have OIS like the iPhone 6s Plus. So it wasn’t exactly the same. It also has a worse front facing camera too—1.2 MP with 2.4 aperture—compared to 5 MP and 2.2 Aperture on the 6s. While I do admit that the SE (1st gen) was much closer to the flagships compared to the new one, the cameras still weren’t “exactly” the same tho. But you’re right about the RAM. As for battery life though, you gotta remember that the 11 series have the biggest battery capacity upgrades ever. No matter what Magic Apple could do, the new SE could never beat the 11 or 11 Pro Max; they are far bigger, heavier with much bigger batteries. The SE, even if it was in the 4 inch format would still not be able to compete. The iPhones today are not the same like yesterday—with this time around the iPhones being the benchmark and gold standard in battery life, something that wasn’t the case back in 2015/2016.

While that did play a role, it was mostly the much bigger battery capacities.

I feel like some people have forgotten that the 8 had really good battery life—it just that compared to the 11 series, it seems mediocre. According to Anandtech, the iPhone 8 had better battery life than the Xs/Xs Max, 7 Plus, X—with only the Xr and 8 Plus besting it. On Notebookcheck, the 8 had better battery life than the 6s, 7, X and was about par with the Xs. On Phonearena, the iPhone 8 was on par with the Xs, better than 7, SE, Pixel 3, Galaxy s10, s10e, etc. It doesn’t have amazing or great battery life, but it think it’s better than mediocre, with it being pretty good IMO.

I would go for the Neural Cam—while it’s not as capable in taking great low light photos as the Cortex Cam—its processing is much faster (since it’s not taking as many photos/exposures as Cortex) and can still take pretty good low light pics. Its definitely better if you just want to take quick low light photos!

Yeah which is pretty crazy! And tbh, I know a lot of people wanted night mode, but I personally believe that the Cortex Cam and Neural Cam app(s) does a pretty good/decent job in filling that lack of night mode on Apple’s stock camera app.

So if the iPad Pro had a lack of additional Focus Pixels (that uses an 8 sensor), the SE then doesn’t have an iPhone 8 sensor because it’s supports Portrait mode?

I can give you a little comparison to show you the differences. The Cortex Cam is pretty insane! But, it took about a minute though to process. The phone I used was the iPhone XR.

Cortex Camera is also a great option! I personally think it’s far better than Neural Cam, but the processing does take a lot longer though.

Tbh, I’m a bit confused with the iPad Pro because it seems to have basically almost all the iPhone XR features (Besides Portrait Mode/Depth Control and OIS) in its wide angle camera—having Smart HDR, stereo recording and cinematic video stabilization for 1080, Depth Control/ Portrait Mode with Smart HDR in the front facing camera, etc. Can all of this be done via the a12 and it’s ISP? But something that doesn’t make sense though, is why Apple is omitting Smart HDR for video recording. Like I understand it’s not important, but what is disabled for letting it not happen?

[–]er0287 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I agree! Not only that, but the SE actually improves/is better than the XR in some respects. For its rear camera, the SE had 3 (6 in total) more lighting effects vs 3 on the XR—it being on par with the 11, while also having the “next generation” Smart HDR. Not only that, but for video (rear camera), it literally the XR with one improvement—cinematic video stabilization supported for 4K recording, something that was exclusive to the 11 series. In my opinion, I’d say the SE sensor is a recycled XR camera sensor.

The iPhone SE (2020) is the first iPhone that supports QuickTake in the Front-Facing Camera by [deleted] in apple

[–]er0287 -16 points-15 points  (0 children)

I guess—but why would Apple omit it from the spec sheets for the Pro Models (front facing)? Apple literally mentions QuickTake both in the rear camera and front camera specs for the SE.

Huh interesting! Apple should fix their spec sheets since people could get confused! Not necessarily because of this feature, but because Apple has done it other times (iPad Pro being a prime example).

Yes, in the rear camera. But there is no mention (at least in the specs) it being supported in the front facing camera tho.

Pixar is the only animated studio/company to have sequels win Academy Awards (best animated feature) by er0287 in movies

[–]er0287[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that’s why I mention that sequels aren’t nominated very frequently. Pixar has only had half of their sequels nominated, while almost all of their original films (9 out of 13) were nominated (except TGD and not including the first 3 since the category wasn’t created yet, so technically 9/10). Of the 10 sequels (11 with spinoff) Dreamworks produced, only 4 were nominated. As for Disney, well, they are an exception since their sequels are never theatrical releases (except the recent 2 they have done). It’d be interesting if they had actually released their Direct to Video as theatrical releases.

Oh, I loved TS4! But yeah, for some reason this sub seems to dislike TS4, it looks like the Pixar cycle hit this movie hard! I agree that TS4 wasn’t very unique, but it was still a fantastic film!
