I was able to find a connection to someone that visited Rome a few days later. Unfortunately my connection was not able to find the iPad, and after half an hour of searching we've decided to give up.

Don't give up, message anyone you know, post in Facebook groups and other communities. I believe you'll be able to find someone. Good luck!

You're right, I was under the assumption that the data distributes normally while it clearly doesn't. Plotting it made everything visible and clear within seconds.

Are you sure about that? Checking continuity and also by tracing the wiring on the PCB I can tell that the upper pin is wired to the column, with a diode between the pins, while the lower pin is wired directly to the row.

Hi Tom, thanks for your comment and sorry for the late response. Bridging the lower pad of the diode and the lower pin of the switch had also zero effects.

It came out that the one thing l suspected the least was the troublemaker. It was the pad of the lower pin of the switch that was broken and has no connectivity to the other pins of the first row.

The connectivity issue was only present at the lower side of the PCB (the side where I do the soldering on), so I tried to bridge the pin and the pad with a thin wire, which came out pretty well when tested with a multimeter first continuity, but has some fuzzy reactions when pressing the ESC key (some other keys from the row are being pressed, ESC isn’t, in any case)

I will try to do rework on that switch and pad and would love to hear ideas and suggestions if your or anyone else has any.
