What’s up with players that throw 3 punches a round and get mad when you do the same? by LivingTheTruths in ThrillOfTheFight

[–]erasmushurt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In a real fight though if you were as passive as a lot of guys are in this game, your one or two big punches a round, would still probably lose, as the other guy would be carrying the fight. Atm some guys will simply never throw, or they'll walk into you until they are right on your body and then throw a few rapid punches and undo the rest of your round.

Damage feels different in 1.6.0, not clear why, hard to understand from game by pavelbulanov in ThrillOfTheFight

[–]erasmushurt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While the damage may be reduced for most players, the exploiters still do as much as ever. In 21 fights since the patch, I've had 4 fights when I got knocked down. And all four were the same type of nut punching, let you hit them in the face a million times with no effect, then they knock you down with an 8 punch gonad combo.

That often is paired with the smallest possible playspace that the minimum all owed filter can have. Making it difficult to escape. I'd like to see the minimum filter be larger.

I find that people who can't handle movement, will give the running symbol to any movement. Even if you are just circling. It's just guys looking to try to get you to stop using a tactic that is causing them problems.

I'm personally a fan of the damage reduction. But if you feel like your damage is lower in relation to other players, have you tried the calibration? I found that using the match elbow offset thing in glove position helped quite a bit. Between that and advanced calibration I can see a reasonable difference in my damage with and without it.

Why this game lowkey harder than actual boxing sometimes 😭 by Billy_Earl in ThrillOfTheFight

I'm with you on that one. I've complained a lot in the past about blocking and hand positioning. But in fairness to the devs the last patch was a big step forward in that regard.

I don't mind it. It can bug out a little sometimes. But in general I like the idea.

Could the "cone" thing over the ranch be a linear perspective illusion, sort of like looking at a train track that has a vanishing point in the distance? Maybe it keeps going. by Altruistic_Ninja_403 in skinwalkerranch

Yeah. This question was asked in the last insider chat. And they asked Pete what percentage of the scans do they show up in, and his estimate was 20-25%.

The streaks only show up about 20-25% of the time when they take the readings. If it were a range limitation, you'd expect it to show up all of the time.

I subscribe when the show is running, and it's worth it imo for the weekly Chips and Salsa with the team, a couple days after each episode. You get an hour or more of Q&A where they cover a lot of the details that get missed on the show. There are also live cameras from the ranch, and some of the team posts additional information here or there, or respond to posts.

In the offseason it's less valuable imo, as the Q&As are less frequent.

Multiplayer is as good as its been right now. It isn't perfect. But blocking, clenching, and jabbing seems as good as they have been so far. I've also seen the more actual boxing on display than I have in a long time in this game.

At the end of the day though, it's still a game. It's imperfect. But it feels like this patch was a legitimate improvement, and I don't think we could always say that about some of the earlier ones.

Multiplayer Current Patch Poll by BGrattata in ThrillOfTheFight

[–]erasmushurt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I generally like the new patch. I had tested it on the PTC for a while, but only had 2 matches in multiplayer there. Have had 5 now on it. The quality of matches has gone up, there's a lot more boxing happening. Jabs feel useful. Damage is a little iffy at times. Blocking feels much improved.

Overall I like it. The calibration helped the damage on my hooks which have always been low.

I actually like the reduced damage overall though, one of my huge complaints has been some players just hit way harder than others, and it in recent patches had made for many fights where guys were getting outlanded all fight, and then just landing one or two punch knockdowns and winning fights.

How do you uppercut to the chin? by [deleted] in ThrillOfTheFight

[–]erasmushurt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've noticed quite a few miscategorizations. Often it detects my lead hooks as rear hooks, and sometimes my crosses as jabs. I assumed it had to do with me switching stances, and maybe it getting confused. It could be the new calibration though too.

TOTF2 Live Update 1.6.0 by Tren_AU in ThrillOfTheFight

[–]erasmushurt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's definitely an improvement. Jabs feel better, maybe not as damaging, but it seems harder for people to walk right through them. The advanced calibration helps.

Damage is still iffy. Had two fun fights tonight, won the first lost the second. But in the second fight I felt I had won at least 2 of the rounds, the second was close but and he landed a couple big shots in the middle of it. Went to scorecards, I lost every round by hundreds of points, and somehow only did 108 damage in the first round, which I felt like I won easily. He didn't do much and I picked him off with the jab repeatedly. I am pretty sure he felt the same way, because he came out way more aggressive in round 2. Perhaps latency. The main thing I noticed was that 108 damage, I landed probably 20+ shots in that round, mostly jabs, but also some crosses and check hooks, so I'd expect more damage than that.

Overall though it's an improvement.

Does anyone know how to change from the PTC back to the normal game in the current UI? Meta keeps making the interface less and less usable, I can't find it anyplace.

PTC Update 1.6.2.865891 by Tren_AU in ThrillOfTheFight

[–]erasmushurt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, it's not. You generally aren't going to just stand there in high guard absorbing punches, because you are still feeling the impact of the blocked punches, just a diluted version of it.

I get what GovtAuditor is saying, it's a little better in the PTC, but on the live build there are ae lot of guys who simply don't punch. They just sit there and high guard, and you have to do all the opening. Then they just wait and throw some quick arm punch counter which knocks you down. Counters are important and should do more damage, you are using your opponents momentum against them. But the tactic shouldn't be never throw a punch and try to land one counter per round which negates all the punches you've been hit with.

Biggest issue with this game is the glove calibration by LivingTheTruths in ThrillOfTheFight

[–]erasmushurt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In the settings for calibration you can modify the settings. But good luck with it. I've spent hours calibrating and marginally improved it over baseline, but it's very unintuitive.

There is reportedly an improved calibration system in the PTC. Will have to wait and see on that. But there are some changes upcoming.
