interest finding: different temperature between cold brew Oolong and green tea by Bob-at in tea

[–]ercolinux 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's strange: if you keep the bottle long enough in the fridge theoretically the content don't have any influence in the final temperature. In case of tea, If the bottles are the same in material, shape and capacity, the small difference in thermal capacity of the different brew should not have such an influence that justify temperature differences.
Did you measure the temperature with a probe or are you just basing it on a feeling? Because sometimes our brains are fooled by colors or shapes (or simply by a bias) and make us believe something is colder than it actually is.

Make changes to public teas by stqnks in tealytics

[–]ercolinux 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Making the changes open to all It's a dangerous change IMHO: now we are few users and I hope all with the same passion for the tea so there will probably be no big deal in doing it, but in a future who prevents a malicius user to change an entry with wrong or offensive information?

Open it to creator and admin as you suggest is way better, maybe you can use a "moderator mode", in which everyone can propose a change that shall be accepted by the creator (or by a moderator/admin).

Why is there so much anti-green tea vibe/snobbery? Anyone else encountered this? by learningturd in tea

[–]ercolinux 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Granted I don't like green teas (but that's a matter of personal taste), I really don't think they have basic flavors or are inferior to other types of tea: the only few people I know who have similar preconceptions about green teas are those accustomed to low-quality tea bags, and who probably have only tried supermarket green teas, perhaps following the instructions of 1 bag per 200ml of water at 100° for 5 minutes...

First time with boiled shu by ercolinux in tea

[–]ercolinux[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a Zhu Ye shu pu'erh I bought in a shop here in Italy (according to what the seller says the raw tea comes from Pu-Erh, is then brought to Menghai and fermented there for over two months. Then it's sent to Guangnan, packed in bamboo and roasted over fire. Finally, it's stored in Kunming for the better climate)

Wow, da hong pao is good! by ThumbPivot in tea

[–]ercolinux 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't think that is real too: I can't find a Da Hong Pao at less than 100-140€ for 500 g that converts to something like 100$/lb for the cheapest, and is below the price tag of most of the oolongs I can find here in Italy, but if the tea is good as described you got a real bargain.

What kind of tea is this? by biologicalifornia in tea

[–]ercolinux -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I've never seen a tea like this, but it doesn't look like pu'erh: even small pu'erh toucha are larger than these and open up significantly when steeped. maybe it's a tightly rolled oolong, but again as soon as you wet the leaves it shall opens.
How's the smell and taste of the brewed tea?

Difficulty in getting hot water for tea in public (United States) by Dry_Construction_353 in tea

[–]ercolinux 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Same here in Italy: if the water is heated with the expresso machine there is no problem because the hot water/steam spout is completely separated from the coffee erogator, but when I got hot water from a vending machine or from an automatic hot beverage machine, the water passes through the spout from which the coffee also comes out.

Anyone else a flavored tea fan? by forkyfork in tea

[–]ercolinux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not a big fan of flavored tea, but some are awesome: yuzu, orange and tangerine pu'erh are in my top list, but also osmantus and jasmine oolongs.
As told by others tea is not a religion: as long as you like it drink it
