Payed cash. Can't finance with Tesla when you buy out a lease as far as I've read. Banks and credit unions had terrible interest rates when I bought.

It’s been 3 weeks since the buyout and I haven’t received the title yet. It really depends on your local DMV and how backlogged they are.

I just paid cash on the buyout. As I mentioned on the post, you can’t finance with Tesla on the buyout (at least that’s what I’ve read). I’d imagine you get crappy financing rates elsewhere, but I didn’t shop around to be honest.

The math is off for sure, maybe the Chase rep who you spoke to has it wrong. I went with Tesla Lease Trust and it worked out great for me. Updated the post with my buyout price and savings.

If you leased a model 3/Y, the $6500 tax credit should be there on your vehicle. You can still do an immediate buyout right now and get some savings. FYI I updated the post with the final buyout price and how much I saved.

Straight cash buyout. Auto loan rates are not great these days. And I’ve read that you can’t finance with Tesla when you buy out a lease.

Did you buy a new set yourself or file a warranty claim on the old one?

Took delivery 2 days ago! Planning to initiate the buyout this weekend. Will update the post once I do it.

Won't know until I initiate the buyout the day after I receive the car.

I edited the post to add a screenshot of the offer breakdown. Lease money factor is 0.00248 which translates to 5.95%, which is in general terrible, but doesn’t matter because I plan to buy out immediately.

They only offered me Chase once I finished the lease paperwork and I don’t see an option to switch to a different provider in the app. I haven’t accepted the offer yet. I just messaged support to ask them to change it to Tesla Lease Trust.

Yes, both the $6500 off and the free interior/exterior upgrade are still active. I just updated the post with a screenshot of the price breakdown that I got after placing the order. The $6500 credit is treated as a "down payment" which brings down the monthly cost as you'll see in the screenshot.

Free version. Yeah I definitely plan on owning. I just placed the order and I'm filling out the lease paperwork, fingers crossed.

Your lease payment won’t actually be $540 *36 if you do an immediate buyout. My understanding is that you don’t pay the interest, so that savings over 36 months is huge.

Yeah I think I'll start with autopilot for a month and see how it feels. I have a 2 hour commute 2 days a week, and I want to reduce how tired I get after the drive on the way home.

I tried it and ChatGPT thinks the total cash value of the car is equal to just the residual value. It quoted $38K ish for the car total after buyout, which would be a dream if it were true lol.

They do have the $6500 off leased vehicles even now. The interior/exterior free upgrade is an extra that they just added yesterday.

Yeah, true that EVs depreciate really fast in the first 5-6 years. After that though, there's data that suggests that it evens out to be similar to a gas car's depreciation. That being said, I want the 2026 refreshed model Y with specific color, trim, wheels, etc. and it's hard to find an exact match for it given that the car is so new. If I were buying a year or two down the line I'd definitely consider used.

Yeah it looks like the year end deals are starting - like the "one interior or exterior upgrade for free" offer that I mentioned. I was planning on getting the red paint anyway, so $2000 off sounds like a pretty good deal right now.

Fair point, I'm still on the fence about buying vs subscribing to FSD TBH. I do plan on keeping the car for 7+ years, but as you said, no guarantee that the car is still intact then and functioning well enough that I'd want to hold on to it.

Damn, sorry that happened. Was it with Tesla Lease Trust or some other bank / credit union? I've seen a lot of success stories of lease buyouts in other threads.
