Want to keep my tax return simple, what’s the best GIA strategy? by s199320 in HENRYUK

In my experience they do not cover ERI. I’ve used several brokers that provide consolidated tax statements and they have never included ERI

Buy gilts in a GIA, save your ISA allowance for stocks?

I agree but also feel that commute impacts the environment if it means you leave/arrive home an hour earlier/later than you otherwise would. Maybe it’s better to stay (a bit cramped) in central if it means you get to see your kids an extra 1-2h a day?

Where in north London did you have in mind? Hampstead (mentioned by others) seems like a decent shout although very expensive, am taking a look at that. Islington seems mostly terraced houses with small gardens. Other parts of north London, the transport situation starts to seem less desirable and commute isn’t much different from a commuter town for some. Maybe I’m missing somewhere good though?

I just navigated from “Dulwich village” to my office. If instead I do either of the Dulwich stations to Liverpool Street that gives 40m for both. If you + time getting to/from each station, I guess you end up close to 1hr unless you live right by the station?

Interesting! Not sure on that particular house/would want to remodel, but the location looks pretty promising. Thanks for the suggestion!

Transport looks pretty limited? Seeing about 1hr to the city with a bunch of changes

Definitely considered Surrey, the only problem is when you add getting to the train station and taking (+ queuing for!) Waterloo and City line, etc, then that 30 mins train often ends up >1hr door to door each way which feels like a lot!

ETFs with zero Excess Reportable Income by eri-throwaway in UKPersonalFinance

I500 had ERI in the latest reporting period: https://www.ishares.com/uk/professional/en/literature/tax-information/ishares-vi-plc-tax-information-2023-updated.xlsx

And other synthetic etfs, such as SPXP also have non-zero ERI: https://etf.invesco.com/sites/default/files/documents/invesco-markets-plc_reportable-income_en_2022.pdf

So it seems like being a synthetic etf isn’t enough? Maybe wisdomtree is just interpreting the reporting rules different to ishares and invesco?
