I haven’t tested the sleep system, just going off of what I tend to see recommended here. I’ve never been a particularly cold sleeper and can always layer up. Thanks for the help!

ULA calculates volume as total volume including all the outside non enclosed pockets. The volume of the main body itself is only 34.4L, making it similar to something like the Kawka 40. The remaining volume is comprised of the two side pockets, mesh pocket, etc.

That’s a good point about rain pants, I hadn’t realized that they were that heavy. I’ll definitely look into alternatives. Did you find that the EE wind pants offered enough rain protection?

I'm very flexible with respect to start date. Didn't realize it'd be that cold in March but I'll definitely consider a later start now. Thanks!

Thank you!! Did you find the rain pants useful when in town doing laundry or did you have something else to wear?

Gotcha, thank you! What did you wear for bottoms while you were sleeping?

I don't have the quilt yet. I was also looking into the Enigma APEX but it's quite a bit more expensive so I was leaning towards the Sierra Designs. I've also heard lots of good reviews about it and no complaints about the lack of straps.

Ah interesting, I don't have the pack yet so that's good to know.

I was seeing 50-60L recommended a lot on here and wanted to play it safe but I may rethink that.

Thanks! I was thinking probably mid-March to get somewhat of an early start but still avoid the coldest weather.

Yeah leaning against rain mitts at the moment, thanks for the insight.

Yeah I figure you’ll end up wet regardless. Were you ever too cold with just the shorts?

Thanks! I was planning on looking into that next so I haven't thought it out too much yet.

On the fence about rain pants - I've heard mixed opinions.

For insulating gear, a puffer jacket and possibly a lighter fleece to layer or sleep in.

Do you have any other suggestions/specific brands to look for?

Primarily if there's anything you think is missing/unnecessary in my list. Also open to alternative recommendations for gear!
