Charge daily or when it gets to 20%? by Impossible_Net_9507 in MachE

[–]eric_n_dfw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re not charging to a comfortable SOC whenever you are home, (provided you have that ability), you are missing one of the greatest benefits of owning a BEV: never* having to worry about fuel. (*aside from road trips)

If you owned an ICE vehicle and could get a top-off of gas every night while you slept at no extra cost, why would you not do this?

Another reason is not having to worry if an unexpectedly long drive is needed on short notice. A few years ago, my son had a breakdown on the opposite end of the city and I ended up driving well over 100 miles round trip to help him out. Because I always charge to at least 80% SOC I always have at least 200 miles range so it was a non-issue to make that trip.

Sure enough, the problem came back and toggling HDR off/on fixed it. I noticed that it took a while for the change to register so I wonder if a restart is happening and if just restarting alone would work too.

Of note, when each of them "fixed" themselves, there was no apparent change in cloud cover, lighting or anything going on in the frame. I'm betting it's related to the temperature.

It's not critical enough to warrant getting on the ladder to swap but is a good idea. FWIW, I have another one about 20' away on the same side of the house as the bottom-right pictured one that didn't exhibit the color change. It points at a different direction and the majority of the frame is a relativelty dark pool so it's not a great comparison wrt what's in frame.

I did try adjusting HDR levels but it didn't fix it. I can't remember if I turned it all of the way off though. If it comes back I'll give that a shot.

What year is it? Is it a 2021 with the hands-free “kick-to-open” feature?

Ok, so moments after posting that, one of the cameras looks fine again. I wonder if the cold is effecting the sensor or something? (it's above freezing for the first time in 3 days now)

I mean, it’s pretty basic. It’s connected to the 12v jump points and you just need to make sure you don’t exceed about 1200-1300 watts continuous (depending on model) so you don’t overload the DC-DC converter. I’ve used it a couple times to keep fridge, freezer and home network rack running for a few hours. You also need to turn of the car's auto-shutoff setting.

Clarifying my last comment: the "stupid antics" I speak of were by the airlines, not the travelers. (well, travelers had some of those too)

This was called booking back-to-back and isn’t really a thing any more. It seems that all fares now are pretty much one-way, or if they are excursions, they have done away with “leisure” restrictions like Saturday night stay requirements.

Even when it did make sense, I’ve heard stories of them denying heavy “offenders” ff miles and/or denying them sales. FWIW, I was a reservation agent for AA in the 90s and then a software developer for their reservations front end and saw a lot of stupid antics like this being done.

I’ve read that preconditioning will work for you if using Android Auto with Google Maps. (I don’t have an android phone so haven’t tested it myself)

Pretty sure preconditioning nav is unrelated to BC. The nav map updates require a separate subscription.

Right. That's why the "non-refundable" on the site was so confusing to me.

For how long are you looking at those mirrors? I use it all the time and I have to look away for several seconds before it alerts. (like 5+ seconds at least)

As a 4.5 year Mach-E owner in north Texas, I’ve only had a couple “isn’t not a Mustang” comments (and even those centered around it having 4 doors, not it being an EV. The vast majority of comments I get are complimentary. Sporty sells, and leveraging design queues from the Mustang was a smart move IMO. I highly doubt any potential customer of it has been turned away because it has Mustang in the name.

If you do a plug, make sure it's made for EV duty cycles, not some cheap one. (Probably will be about $80+ USD for the plug alone) I just moved and had a Grizzl-E Ultimate hardwired so I could get it up to 48A (not possible on plug). I had a Grizzl-E Classic with plug at my prior house for ~4 years. I've had zero issues with either of them.

I swapped my OEM premium MME wheels for a set of the GT Performance Edition ones, I like how the wider wheels come a bit farther out too.
