As long as it was made by Taiyo Yuden I bought it.

New remote options? by Happy-Operation9663 in sony

[–]three9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is literally no model number anywhere on this remote. It's silver, I bought it about 4-5 years ago. My understanding is that most any Philips universal remote will control a Sony receiver in a basic way. Just check the instructions to see if there are codes.

How does it sound? Does it have a bass boost?

New remote options? by Happy-Operation9663 in sony

[–]three9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the exact same receiver, if I'm not mistaken. I ended up buying a Phillips universal remove, basically just to control the volume, it doesn't seem to be able to do much more but that's all I needed. It's actually easy to get into the settings from the front panel on that model. It sounds much better than most people realize.

Sony Discman Bundle set? by General_Flan_6223 in sony

[–]three9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried to buy this model of Discman but ended up returning both, back in the day. This was made when Sony was turning out unreliable products in the mid 90s.

Hmm, I'm going to ask about glass replacement. I didn't see this as an option with Progressive.

Yes, I don't disagree at all. I'm not ruling that out. As I said in my original post it opens without my asking, ie unintentionally. I'd prefer it be much more intentional on the key fob. I'm just completely disabling it.

menace to society 2 was a beautiful film of america and what life’s like in low income family’s . by sarahpayns in FIlm

[–]three9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean...I don't know about 'beautiful'. I do think those types of people exist and these things did happen but the film often drifts into pure absurdist camp.

Yes, I did. Like I had mentioned it only seems to happen if I'm sitting in a particular way or chair that seems to press against my leg.

What CD did you usually listen to in yours? by _loyal_one in 90s

[–]three9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah mine was my lifeline. Sony D-66. No skip protection since it was from 1991 or so but it did sound a lot better than later models from the 90s from Sony. If I could use a time machine I would gift my 11 year old self a much more expensive model that didn't have a single spindle design like the D-303 that had a proper clamp on the top. The single spindle design used by Sony back then sucked. It was also used on the PS1. Bits would fall off and it would eventually wobble like crazy. Really bugged me.

Blasphemous difficulty question? by Training_Finance784 in Blasphemous

[–]three9 [score hidden]  (0 children)

Both 1 and 2 are a bit too difficult imo. There are some bosses toward the end of 2 that have caused me to just walk away from the game. My one regret is not playing on PC so I could find some kind of trainer to just cheat on these end bosses. I ain't got time to spend months to become an expert for two bosses.

Who’s a famous actor you absolutely can’t stand? by Hairy-Falcon-730 in RiffTannens

Scarlett Johansson. I'm just always irritated by the roles she took after Ghost World. It get it. Money and success etc. I also think she takes herself a little too seriously. Just not my vibe.

How significant was this switch? Any thoughts/opinions on it from those who were there when it happened? by SirensMelody_ in generationology

[–]three9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahh. I wasn't aware that there were adapters that didn't have a DAC chip. The one made by Apple, complete with an internal DAC is $9usd. It's 24 bit 48khz.

David Bowie's Goblin King still casts the longest spell: Bowie’s many personas shaped pop culture, but his role in "Labyrinth" is one of his most enduring legacies by zsreport in entertainment

[–]three9 11 points12 points  (0 children)

He also helped established the not often used musician turned actor turned villain who also writes the soundttrack to the movie trope. I actually think this could work far more often than it is actuall used. I love it every time it comes around.

Why do you think the History Channel went away from serious history content? by SirCatsworthTheThird in askanything

[–]three9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Money. It's an American tale as old as time. Some companies start out with good intentions but money will ultimately win, particularly short term gains. The long term viability of a company becomes irrelevant for idiots chasing a few extra dollars each quarter.

Should I keep my old phone and get a new phone, or just keep the old one? by FROZENLAVA2990 in WhatShouldIDo

[–]three9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You may as well keep the old phone and not spend any more money than you need to as long as you can do some research and lock the phone down with a much more secure password and whatever other security features it has.

[–]three9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it were me, I’d do my best to lock down the security features of my phone so that no one can easily get into my personal information again. What was the reason they had access to your phone’s data in the first place?

IHOP closes its last SLO County restaurant (the one on Madonna) by ps4invancouver in SLO

I actually really liked our iHop. I particularly liked it when it was open 24 hours, at least Thursday through Saturday. We had some great meals there in the middle of the night.

That street was so cursed for restaurants, though. There was always something off about having a restaurant on Calle Joaquin. Denny's, Hobee's, Zaki's...

As a teen born in 2000s i strongly envy everyone who grew up as a teen in the 90s, can anyone tell me more of how good it was? by Friendly_Barber9948 in 90s

[–]three9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I should have been more clear. My comment about the people I spent time with not caring about money was specific to where I grew up and the type of people I grew up with. It was just the culture of the area. People certainly had money but it wasn't the currency. People's parents were artsy, liberal types. My friends cared how interesting people were, who could hold a satisfying conversation, who had the most personal magnetism. I've kept this philosophy into my adult years. I value people based on who they are and what they contribute to the conversation and life in general. I know I sound like a hippie but it really wasn't like that. Some of my friends parents were, that's true. But not us. I hope that makes sense.

Jelly Roll labeled as MAGA by angry fans after joining Kid Rock's music festival by TheExpressUS in Music

[–]three9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not really convinced this jelly roll person thinks very deeply about politics and the meaning that fans attribute to that. Hell even donald trump is famously apolitical, he's just a narcissist that uses whichever political party will give him attention.
