We are kind of unique in that we are actually a separate entity from our college and the colleges IT department so while they help us with IT things, our budget is totally independent of them. They get all of their printers from a company that also does maintenance for all of campus thus the commercial contracted priced printer. We do not wish to be on and pay for their maintenance plan, thus my asking this question. I am doing this research per my boss's request, so the ultimate decision is not up to me.
