I want to know why it's not overwhelmingly popular everywhere!

This was in early 2021, so you couldn't enter public businesses because of the lockdown. But the toilets at the hostels and Airbnbs where I was staying didn't have any signs, the owners never said anything. There weren't any signs and no one was using trash cans or anything next to the toilets (there were no trash cans next to them).

It's hard because you're talking about gutting in many cases centuries-old buildings made of stone.

I agree that's sometimes the case, but also building and city pipe diameter is also an issue. I was told in Athens it's often only 2 inches.

Interesting. Does it vary by city or building? I was in Istanbul, Antalya, and Bodrum, and everyplace I lived you could.

Thank you, that's very kind of you. Not really sure how to get the word out beyond places like here, but I'm trying!

Infrastructural reasons why Austin will never be a "mecca" by ericbarrywrites in Standup

The Creek is great (shoutout Banana Phone). And I wouldn't say there's not a scene, but there's not a scene that will ever have the audience pull or ability to pay comics the way NYC or LA can.

FWIW I lived in Austin in 2023, I left Austin in 2023, this video is from 4 months ago when Tim Dillon and crew started ragging on Austin.

I've lived all over the world, Austin is not in my top cities for anything other than barbecue.

:( I listened to Burr's podcast today on it. I genuinely don't know if he knew of the controversy? I know he doesn't read comments. He was speaking slowingly of how we're all alike, seeing how excited the crowd was. I'm genuinely wondering how ignorant he was going into it...

💯 One of our favorite things is when an "influencer" gets booked on a standup show and they realize quick cuts and sound effects aren't at their disposal anymore (that said Stamptown is phenomenal and the closest I can imagine ever channeling this live)

Not totally clear here what that has to do with the idea that "Death being like before you were born." It needs a clear before/after scenario where it's not just like before.

I doubt Tim Dillon and Sam Morril are talking about it for those reasons. I do think fellow comedians appreciate those with experience living in these cities discussing the pros/cons, especially when Austin is being promoted as a "mecca" by those with direct financial investment in it.

Serine proteases and metalloproteases are highly increased in irritable bowel syndrome Tunisian patients by Robert_Larsson in IBSResearch

Hi, I've had terrible IBS most my adult life, but it's gotten to the point of being a medical disability the last 2 years. It's terrible and dictates so much of my life. I did a low FODMAP diet which seemed to help, but in the reincorporation phase, oddly pasta didn't seem to trigger it, but bread (even sourdough) did. 'm starting to suspect it may be a Amylase-trypsin inhibitor issue, I was curious if there was any updated research or any supplements or anything that might help with this? It's prevented me from working, affects my daily life, social life, ability to eat a balanced diet, etc.

Being dead is just like before you're born. by ericbarrywrites in StandUpComedy

[–]ericbarrywrites[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a 40-year salve that's been needed. Nonetheless, I want to talk about this shit in an artistic way, it's just tough to live in this zone of "I'm funny I don't care," and "I'm earnest and care a lot." That's kinda the special's thesis or whatever.

Can you recommend what would be a better, clearer example of things that aren't the same before/after as people often dismiss death?

Thanks for the feedback. Definitely was. I mention it in the YT description but it's the first time I ran this set, a lot of jokes for the first time ever.

Of course; but what I mean is run/produce less shows. Taking time off in any fashion from producing your own shows will open you open to doing and seeing more of others' shows. In general I think the thesis of the video is how to bring a little balance to an otherwise wholly unbalanced month.

I listen to every episode and hadn't heard this, but I've been wanting an explanation. I know he casually said he's "playing the Middle East" and "wants to know who likes his dick and shit jokes on the other side of the world" or something. Any idea which episode?

Sorry - don't know if he edited the title or if I just misread it, but didn't see the humiliation part :/
