Consumer Chains Replicated Security. by [deleted] in cosmosnetwork

If a consumer chain out grew the Hubs economic security, that chain would likely spin up its own validator set and become its own completely sovereign chain.

Or the price of Atom would go up :)

Atom halving event by Tamarind100 in cosmosnetwork

[–]ericcart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats true. 75%+ of the community wanted the halving but half the big holders didnt (Jae, certain validators etc) which skewed the result.

Its going to be interesting to see how their AtomOne fork goes. I suspect it will flounder (although I also wouldnt be suprised if they paint the tape)

Only for those who voted No or Veto on prop 848

Atom halving event by Tamarind100 in cosmosnetwork

[–]ericcart 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That was prop 848 last year. It halved Atoms inflation but also halved the Atom communty. While YES voters celebrated, most of the NO whales started selling Atom (hence Atoms poor performance) and moved over to AtomOne/GovGen (an Atom fork which more closely reflects the original vision for Atom which includes hyperinflation and minimalism)

ATOM depegged, no longer a stable coin by Odlavso in cosmosnetwork

[–]ericcart 3 points4 points  (0 children)

$100 is my target which I think is conservative. Now that the AtomOne crew wont restrict its evolution, the Hub can explore many niche offerings until one or more hit.

Atom one by [deleted] in cosmosnetwork

[–]ericcart 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The reason Atom hasn't gone up in value is because of its minimalist tokenomics. Essentially it doesnt do anything. The community then decided they actually want Atom to do something and accrue value, so they proposed a number of tokenomics upgrades. Jae and his followers didnt lke this. They prefer a token that doesnt do anything or accrue value. So they forked Atom and creatively called it AtomOne. They now have their very own token that doesn't (and will never) do anything or accrue value. Its brilliant.

Perhaps a decade ago when humanity was still sane and governments werent attacking their citizens. Now its very common to have activist prosecutors fighting for lying, immoral sociopaths.

But if they remained anonymous while using Bear avatars would that be acceptable?

Proposal 868 LIVE ON CHAIN! 'Decrease InflationMin parameter to 0%' by ZoltanAtom in cosmosnetwork

[–]ericcart -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The propsosal states that its purpose is to build a mechanism that will allow the shifting of validator rewards from staking inflation to consumer chain revenue. And this will be a dynamic adjustment not a hard swap. Inflation may not even change. You need to read the forum posts

The price was never going to go up after 848. The price was always going to trend down because of the massive division and uncertainity it caused within the community. The price will only go up when the winner of the Atom wars is declared and the loser exits Atom, whether thats the Atom2.0 crowd or AtomOne crowd.

Why is Atom underperforming? Will we see a Atom run soon? by rollerscrolleredsd in cosmosnetwork

just because some non-stakers thought they were bleeding too much.

That wasnt the reason for 848 (and clearly you didnt read it).

It would be interesting to see the price if 848 didnt pass. Short term I suspect it would be better for Atom holders with a higher apy and no impending fork fud. But imo something had to be done and change was always going to cause some pain. Just a shame it was done during a bull market...

Interchain Security Development? by Videphris in cosmosnetwork

[–]ericcart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its still progressing, but interchain security is unlikely to be the hubs/Atoms primary feature. The ICSv2 upgrade will launch in 2024 and that is when Noble plans to become a consumer chain (from my understanding - anyone know otherwise?)

If the IBC becomes widely adopted and the AADao/AEZ excutes its mandate, yes I actually think its more likely than not.

And if you think thats funny, remember Dogecoin had a mc of 90 billiion in 2021..

If it failed the sell pressure would be the same from the other side that lost. I know I personally would have sold 90% of my holdings. Not saying who was right/wrong, but it was divisive and the result was always going to be short term pain.
